Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
First topic message reminder :
This is an actual report, and it a separate topic than the political topic in the "Politics" forum.
I've heard back from one of the members on my website who lives in Tokyo, Japan and he's reporting that Tokyo is doing fine. They didn't suffer any real damage. Apparently, the real damage from the Earthquake took place in Sendai. The deaths were a result of the tsunami that hit Japan as a result of the Earthquake and that the deaths were not caused by the Earthquake itself.
Do NOT post about the unemployment issue in this topic. There already exists a topic for that issue in the Politics forum.
Please only post your condolences, support and prayers for the Japanese people.
UPDATE: Rather than continuously updating the topic title, it has edited one last time to reflect everything involving the earthquake and tsunami.

You won't notice it, but the day just got a tiny bit shorter because of Friday's giant earthquake off the coast of Japan.
NASA geophysicist Richard Gross calculated that Earth's rotation sped up by 1.6 microseconds. That's because of the shift in Earth's mass caused by the 8.9-magnitude earthquake. A microsecond is one-millionth of a second.
That change in rotation speed is slightly more than the one caused by last year's larger Chile earthquake. But 2004's bigger Sumatra earthquake caused a 6.8-microsecond shortening of the day.
The Japan quake is the fifth strongest since 1900.

Not intending to be an alarmist but I was watching MSNBC this morning and they had an earthquake specialist on who said that the northeast part of the Ring of Fire is possibly the next in line for a big earthquake. That means the west coast of the US up to Alaska.
His reasoning was based on the theory that the Ring of Fire which encircles the entire Pacific Ocean has now had major earthquakes in Japan (northwest), New Zealand (southwest), and Chile (southeast) while the US (northeast) hasn't. Not saying that it will or want happen soon but it makes you wonder.

We can only put this on hold for a few days while lives need to be saved. Lives do come first. Maybe that is God is trying to say. If you can help others out if you can. It does not always have to be out of your neighborhood, look around.
CNN is just now at 4PM, just starting to report on our country news.
That earthquake specialist makes sense. It has to balance out the stored energy all round the Ring of Fire. Once it is totally released then it will be normal, whatever that is.

Yep and lots of reactors in California too.
Re: Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
I remember when the big earthquake hit Anchorage back in the early sixties. That was devastating. Thankfully, it isn't heavily populated.

I know that California and Oregon, some of the coastal towns, were hit by some powerful waves. Yesterday, it was reported that a coastal town in California was hit by 10-15 foot waves from that earthquake/tsunami aftermath.

Is it just me or does it seem like these major disasters have been happening a lot more often lately?

Jane, you're welcome.
We're getting closer to December 21st, 2012. I think we're going to see more natural disasters occur as we get closer to that event.
It's the final day of the Mayan calendar. While there's nothing to prove that the end of the world is on that day, it's a proven fact that celestial events, the movements of the cosmos, does have some effect on a planet's life-cycle and I think that these cosmic events will have an effect on the weather of our planet, which include seismic eruptions, hurricanes and tornadoes and tropical storms as well as tsunamis and earthquakes.
We've been lucky in the United States but considering that other continents/countries have been getting hit by massive earthquakes, I think that the United States is going to be the next to get hit.
Chile, China, Indonesia, Turkey, Haiti and Japan, since 2010. These quakes are on a path heading straight for the United States. California could be the next major city that gets hit.
Everybody should be concerned because that's where one of the largest supervolcanos is located, the Yellowstone Supervolcano, which is long overdue for an eruption and that could end all life on Earth.

I glad I not the only one who is seeing similarities in what was predicted and what is happening now.
It very well could be just digging for similarities but it scares me seeing all the disruption in the rest of the world, on top of natural disasters..
Ugh...

Good God!!!! I wasn't aware of the extent of the damage until someone on another anime website pointed me to this news site. If you want to see the level of devastation that has occurred in Japan, check out the following website:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/events/japan-quake-2011/beforeafter.htm
Be sure to roll your mouse over the images to see the before and after pictures. The destruction is horrible ...

WARNING: Concerns massive radioactive cloud may sweep over West Coast of USA
How to Survive Nuclear Fallout From Japan's Reactor Meltdown
Highly radioactive dust-like particles will be carried on the prevailing winds for hundreds or thousands of miles.
(CHICAGO) - With six reactors failing in Japan and at least two undergoing partial meltdown, concern has been raised about a massive radioactive cloud escaping and sweeping over the West Coast of the U.S.

Re: Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
Looks like a second explosion has rocked the Japanese nuclear power plant and it looks to be a hydrogen explosion:

Japan has been working fast to prevent a meltdown at the plant. This is dreadful news.

I always shrugged off the 2012 theories, I'm starting to believe that the Mayans and Nostradamus were correct.
