Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
This is an actual report, and it a separate topic than the political topic in the "Politics" forum.
I've heard back from one of the members on my website who lives in Tokyo, Japan and he's reporting that Tokyo is doing fine. They didn't suffer any real damage. Apparently, the real damage from the Earthquake took place in Sendai. The deaths were a result of the tsunami that hit Japan as a result of the Earthquake and that the deaths were not caused by the Earthquake itself.
Do NOT post about the unemployment issue in this topic. There already exists a topic for that issue in the Politics forum.
Please only post your condolences, support and prayers for the Japanese people.
UPDATE: Rather than continuously updating the topic title, it has edited one last time to reflect everything involving the earthquake and tsunami.

I love how the very first post after the one stating to not talk about unemployment mentioned unemployment. Maybe we should work on our reading comprehension skills.
But onto the topic:
I think it was mostly northern Japan that was damaged. They have no real defense against Tsunamis they have built their country to withstand pretty strong earthquakes. They actually invest in infrastructure there.

Sorry, but I am more concerned with the Unemployment disater that has hit the United States of America. You think Japan gives a hoot about us?

Well, according to my friend, Tokyo wasn't hit, it was the towns and villages on the outskirts of Tokyo that were hit. Sendai is in the upper north of Japan, about 4-5 hours (by car) from Tokyo.
Just do a direction search on Google Maps for Sendai, Japan to Tokyo, Japan.

Wow, the people of our country are an extremely selfish bunch. I wonder sometimes why we would deserve more weeks.
But anyway, I think you are right kemcha it is only on the northern area.
You didn't mean 4-5 miles did you?

No, hours. When I did a search, on Google Maps, it said that Sendai was 4-5 hours from Tokyo, toward the northern end of Japan. My guess is that you're talking around 300 miles from Tokyo, well out of range of the tsunami.

Thanks, I was confused because you typed miles but I knew it had to be farther than that.

Woops. That was an error on my part. It was supposed to be "hours" not "miles".
I've corrected the post error.
I posted the personal information because a member on my site is living in Tokyo and he's getting realtime information from Japanese news media.

It's the same report that everyone keeps reporting.
My prayers go out to the survivors and those affected by this natural disaster.

Turns out, according to a video on MSNBC.com, that the death toll stands at around 1,000 and that Japan media is calling this a catastrophe of epic proportions.

Re: Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
Reports of a man swept to sea in Cali from the Tsunami wave.
Re: Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
I didn't say you were laughing ... making that statement was just in poor taste. There are already sensitive feelings between Americans and Japan where it concerns World War II and the Attack on Pearl Harbor.
Even I would not have made that statement. I'm just extremely careful over what I post ...

I'm serious. The comment about the tsunami striking Japan and that it's ironic that it's going to hit Pearl Harbor? I just don't find any reason why someone would post a remark like that.

What do think I am Japanese and gloating? I know you like anime and have a thing for Japan but I am not making fun of anything. I have friend over there including 3 college roommates that I am very close too. They are Japanese and came here to study.
