Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
First topic message reminder :
This is an actual report, and it a separate topic than the political topic in the "Politics" forum.
I've heard back from one of the members on my website who lives in Tokyo, Japan and he's reporting that Tokyo is doing fine. They didn't suffer any real damage. Apparently, the real damage from the Earthquake took place in Sendai. The deaths were a result of the tsunami that hit Japan as a result of the Earthquake and that the deaths were not caused by the Earthquake itself.
Do NOT post about the unemployment issue in this topic. There already exists a topic for that issue in the Politics forum.
Please only post your condolences, support and prayers for the Japanese people.
UPDATE: Rather than continuously updating the topic title, it has edited one last time to reflect everything involving the earthquake and tsunami.

Just saw breaking news on MSNBC - the two nuclear power plants have issued a meltdown warning.

Not good..........
The cooling system for a reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant failed on Friday after a massive earthquake caused a power outage.
The continued loss of electricity has also delayed the planned release of vapor from inside the reactor to ease pressure. Pressure inside one of the reactors had risen to 1.5 times the level considered normal.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

It gets worse. According to Gizmodo:
http://gizmodo.com/#!5781147/the-usgs-says-the-japan-coast-has-shifted-8-feet-because-of-the-earthquake
Worse yet, the Earthquake bent the tip of the Tokyo Tower, the most recognizable structure in Japan:
http://gizmodo.com/#!5781075/the-japanese-quake-was-so-powerful-it-bent-the-tokyo-tower
The US Geological Survey is reporting that the coast of Japan has shifted 8 feet (2.4m) because of the earthquake in Japan. The Earth's axis has reportedly been shifted 10 inches too.

A statement from above article:
the amount of radioactive element in the vapor would be "very small" and would not affect the environment or human health. "With evacuation in place and the ocean-bound wind, we can ensure the safety," he said at a televised news conference.
Now, as 99ers, we all know not to believe anything coming from the Gov,.........any gov!

Just a friendly reminder. Please obey forum rules when responding. If you don't agree with a response agree to disagree and move forward. These folks in Japan are hurting right now. last thing we should be doing is fighting amongst ourselves on this topic.
Also If an admin should make a suggestion, they are doing it for the better of the forums and our community. Its not a personal attack on any member at all. Please respect that. If you disagree please PM the admin and not put it in the public forum. It serves no purpose and only derails the topic.
Remember, we are ALL in this together.
Thanks to all.

This situation maybe even worse than the initial quake and tsunami. They will suffer the effects from this years from now, it is comparing it with Chernobyl.

Not only that, but posting a message that is obviously seen as trying to provoke a negative response is not very nice. If you're quoting a message or posting a response, be sure that your message is constructive and neutral and that you're making a point. Remember, your message will be deleted if it's seen as provoking a response.
Far as the "Nuclear Danger" in Japan goes? The threat level now involves five (5) reactors and residents are being evacuated from the affected areas. They're in a critical phase in Japan ...

kemcha, are your friends far from where this meltdown will occur?
I saw the picture of the Tokyo Tower earlier today. ABC News was tweeting it. It was a very eerie sight.

I haven't heard anything from him except for his earlier report. I'm assuming that he's far from where this is happening. But, I did hear that all air travel has been grounded, airports are shut down and even flights into Japan have been grounded.

Re: Japanese Earthquake & Tsunami on going after shocks and Tsunami warnings.
Watching Rachel tonight she said there are great fears about the two nuclear power plants melting down. Potentially the west winds could carry that radioactive material into the US. God bless Japan and it's people in this most difficult time.

I think we all need to say a prayer for these people. So many hurt by this and from the news reports tonight, it's not over yet because of the power plants. Though things are not good for us right now, we don't have this to deal with.

The reactor power plant building EXPLODED, they say that radiation in into the air. If this gets into the jet-stream, it will affect our west coast.

This will strengthen the Christian movement. They believe the earth is only 5 thousand years old. It was once thought to take millions of years to have this much movement. It happened it just a few minutes.
