Has Anyone Here On EUC Received A Check Yet?

Hello to all,

I posted this in hopes of getting a quick show of hands as to if or when anyone who is on EUC in some form received a check yet?

No replies from those still on EUC benefits.

Of course not. They left! We'll see them when they get close to their 73 weeks!

Guess I could have been more tactful with my post, but it's frustrating! How many times have we been through this??? It's time to give up the extensions, put the money into job training and WPA programs! I was at NetWork RI the other day, (career center) inquiring about WIA funds for training, and the job counselor said the money has dried up. The only way one can get those funds now is if they have no marketable skills. That doesn't apply to people like you and me, even though our job skills are obviously not "marketable" anymore due to the length of our unemployment! It is a vicious circle, and one that has to stop. We need jobs, and trained for jobs that do exist, if we don't do that now, we'll be fighting for extensions forever! I don't have that time left, I have 8 1/2 years till retirement. Each year I have been out of work has put me further into poverty in my "golden years"!!!

It's understandable Desp. I'm in the same boat. If I ever expect to get back into IT, it will either be with a company that is willing to be VERY patient with me until I get back up to speed (I don't have an uncle that owns an IT company - lol), or with a training program from the state.

The training program has to be free to us I.E. paid for by the state, and it HAS to have jobs to place us into after the training is over. Otherwise, it will be just like one of those for-profit "scam" schools that charge huge tuition and have no job placement after they take your money.

Still no check from me in MA for week ending 1/5/13. What's going on?

Mine came today. I think its just a clusterfck situation as it is at the federal level. I mean, I usually get my check on Wedsday. I got it today on Friday. Seeing how, big the situation is this isnt that bad I guess.

Please let me know that everyone else here is doing good too.

I live in FL. I claimed my weeks on 1-1-13....still have not gotten my deposit. Last person I spoke to , after being on hold for more than 30 minutes said there is a "Glitch" in the system. I dont beleive it. I think they just say that to get us off the phone so they can answer the next call and not help them either!
