New Jersey to Cut Many Off of Unemployment in December 2012
Ok.. here's something to throw salt in everyone's wounds after such a horrible storm just ROCKED and DEVISTATED New Jersey!!!!! Here's something to ponder. LISTEN UP ALL THOSE WHO LIVE IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY THAT ARE STILL COLLECTING UNEMPLOYMENT !!!!! I've been collecting unemployment since October of 2011. I recently had a review with an agent and had to re-certify because I reached my one year mark. As per the agent that worked on my case... NEW JERSEY will be cutting off our unemployment on December 29th.. they've done away with tiers 3 and 4 aparently. The agent said to me in these exact words.... "You're one of the lucky ones, at least you have a warning. There are tons of other people who have no clue that they're going to be cut off on December 29th, and when they go to file and see that they have no more benefits, Our phones will be ringing off the hook!!!!". Why is the State of NJ doing this.. especially after this horrible storm just destroyed homes, lives and businesses???? I guess Christie needs to make the unemployment number look better for the state when we all drop off unemployment????? SO THOSE OF YOU IN NJ THAT ARE COLLECTING UNEMPLOYMENT YOU BETTER GET OUT YOUR THINKING CAPS AND TRY TO HEAD THIS OFF AT THE PASS.. OTHERWISE IT"S HOMELESS YOU WILL BE !!!!!!!

This has nothing to do with NY. The Federal EUC program ends this year, for all states.
If you are still on a tier after 2012, you will be allowed to draw down that tier's balance into 2013 and then that is it.
UI has nothing to do with FEMA support.

We have been warning those collecting unemployment benefits for almost a year that this is it. The program ends. Period.
It has nothing to do with a natural disaster. It has everything to do with people who always just "assumed" , burying their heads in the sand thinking they'll either find a job before their benefits run out, or believing Congress will extend the deadlines again. Not going to happen.
