Got a job - Finally!
First topic message reminder :
I got a job! Just when I thought for sure that I'd never work again, I'm finally hired. I start tomorrow. I'll be working for a local company, updating their website and it's the kind of job I love. It's also on the beach, which has me very happy.
I was on the verge of giving up completely and decided to take one more stab at looking and ended up getting hired. It's such a relief. I'm so used being home and it's going to be weird working again. I keep thinking in the back of my mind that none of this is real and I'll wake up and find out I've been dreaming. Or else I'll go to work and they'll tell me they changed their mind.

We just got caught up on our bills and now this happens. I guess I should be glad I had a normal life for a couple of months. Sigh... I don't think I can get back on the job search merry-go-round again. I'm dying a bit inside right now.
Yes, please stick around! You've got recent work experience, you've used your skills recently, you have that many more people to add to your network (and you have us, of course-always), and maybe you will be the first person they think of if something comes up either there, or some place they know of....Oh wait, now I'm depressed (joke). But you showed them that hiring one of us is a good thing, and that we are not brain-dead, you did a great job, and you did yourself and us proud. I'm quite sure that isn't grammatically corrrect-

OMG, I started reading this thread and was so happy for you and am now sad for you. That's a shame that you lost the job after a couple of months.
But, you have current references again and your resume will show that a company chose to hire you even though you were previously unemployed. Something else will come your way!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words and support. It was so hard sitting at work, knowing that I wouldn't be back. My coworkers were upset and we all had a bit of a cry at the end of the day. They gave me a gift card to one of the local restaurants. DH and I went there for a couple of drinks (maybe more than a couple for me) and appetizers. I was doing fine, even laughing a bit. It was when I got home and looked at the little kitty desk calender my sister gave me as a gift for getting the job that I lost it. I've been crying for the past half hour, wondering why this happened. We were on the verge of losing our home when I got the job. Having it made us able to work out a payment plan with our mortgage company. Now, that's out the window and there is a very good chance we'll end up on the streets if I don't find a job ASAP. I don't even care about myself, or even DH, we'll find a way to survive. It's my pets I'm worried about.

Re: Got a job - Finally!
arbeitslos,
I am so sorry and so angry that this happened-
Curl up and snuggle with your babies, for a bit. Desp put some pet-friendly links on the section about a homeless man being reunited with his dog, that might be helpful. We've all been contacting everyone under the sun, trying to get HR589 passed.
Tomorrow, try to put together a worst-case scenario plan of action. It's better to be proactive, and if you know what you'll need to take with you, and who will pet sit for you, and where you can go, you'll be able to breathe a little easier.

Re: Got a job - Finally!
I am so sorry.
I realize it doesn't seem helpful, but the fact that your hard work was acknowledged is so important, you are obviously a great worker.
I am thinking of you and I am confident a job will come your way.
As corny as it sounds, I was teary eyed more than once about your posts. First, I was so happy for you, then tonight I read your update and I feel so bad and can't help but cry a bit myself.
Please keep updating when you can.
TAKE Caref
