99ers need your help today tommorrow and until HR589 is passed-*3/11/11 *Updated list of Co-Sponsors
First topic message reminder :
Yes we are all feeling like HR589 doesnt have a chance, based on our past experience and long wait for a hand up. We have to trust in Mr. G, and keep forging on. they are now asking that we contact our senators asap, it appears that the house passed legislation to cut $60 billion plus from federal programs on saturday, it is now on to the senate. This may be our chance contact your senators and request that any compromises made to this $60billion cut legislation include the passage of HR589. Tell them your story...Tell them as a constituent that you are asking for their help, not a hand out, a hand up, the unemployed and the 99ers have been living the great depression for over 3 years..
Contact your senator and tell them to include HR589 with the legislation to cut the $60billion plus from federal programs...If they need to compromise, then help those that have been out of work for 3 years and havent had a helping hand for almost one year...they are losing their homes, their lifes, when will they pay attention.
Contact your house rep tell them to co sponsor HR 589 and get it out of committee..contact Boehner, Cantor etc...but more importantly contact your state rep.
Yes we are feeling hopeless, but as long as there is hope, shame on us for not continuing to try to get this passed..think of those that are worse off than ourselves, those that are not here with us and therefore dont have a voice, those that have just given up completely and have lost everything..if we can save just one other than our selves, it will be worth our time and effort...No one said this would be easy. Unemployment is easy but we are living it...The people of egypt spoke up, the people in WI are speaking up, the 99ers need to speak up...there might not be many of us here on this or other sites, but that only means that you have to double and triple your efforts...we need to get this out of committee, once it is out watch how many followers we then have...so dont feel your efforts are for nothing

Awesome. Of course theyre Dems but its something.
Re: 99ers need your help today tommorrow and until HR589 is passed-*3/11/11 *Updated list of Co-Sponsors
Long as it's only Democrats ... it's nothing new. We know that Democrats would support the bill, if it were introduced, although many haven't introduced such bills because they don't openly support it.
The problem is that there are no Republicans supporting it. I don't know if the latest news is encouraging and while I hope it is, until Republicans actually issue a statement saying that they are working with Democrats to get it passed, then, all it is is false hope.

We can't look at it as "false hope". It is all some of us are hanging on to right now. I know I can't go on much longer. We just have to keep pushing Boehner and Cantor to bring it to the Floor.

I think we will get one on board, then more will follow. JMO I think if they support it, they will be afraid to be first to say so publicly.
Once one jumps, more will follow.

Going to email attack Ways and Means and start the list of Dems/Repubs again. Not stopping until we get an answer. We all need to keep good thoughts and we need to keep up the pressure. There are many working on this and we have to do our parts. We need help, we need jobs and we need them to realize that what WE say does matter and we are tired of hearings and debates that have no bearing on fixing a fragile economy or creating jobs, if they won't help with that, they have to help us to live until they start enacting legislation that will help to create jobs and improve the way of life in this country.

Just my opinion, but I think targeting the Republicans with really high unemployment in their States and in their Districts is one way to go also if we want to get some Republican sponsorship. Let them go on record saying they won't help in their own Districts, the very people who elected them.

I hear ya rgreen, I am sorry that you are now a 99er. I understand about you wanting to change tactics. I do too. I think we need to take other steps on top of what we are already doing. What that something else is, I have no clue! lol
Its difficult because anything else requires spending money and none of us has any. However I do feel that our efforts are working, just not fast enough.

Here is Wikis version of Middle Class.
The American middle class is a social class in the United States.[1][2] While the concept is typically ambiguous in popular opinion and common language use,[3] contemporary social scientists have put forward several, more or less congruent, theories on the American middle class. Depending on class model used, the middle class may constitute anywhere from 25% to 66% of households.
