Yes we are all feeling like HR589 doesnt have a chance, based on our past experience and long wait for a hand up. We have to trust in Mr. G, and keep forging on. they are now asking that we contact our senators asap, it appears that the house passed legislation to cut $60 billion plus from federal programs on saturday, it is now on to the senate. This may be our chance contact your senators and request that any compromises made to this $60billion cut legislation include the passage of HR589. Tell them your story...Tell them as a constituent that you are asking for their help, not a hand out, a hand up, the unemployed and the 99ers have been living the great depression for over 3 years..

Contact your senator and tell them to include HR589 with the legislation to cut the $60billion plus from federal programs...If they need to compromise, then help those that have been out of work for 3 years and havent had a helping hand for almost one year...they are losing their homes, their lifes, when will they pay attention.

Contact your house rep tell them to co sponsor HR 589 and get it out of committee..contact Boehner, Cantor etc...but more importantly contact your state rep.

Yes we are feeling hopeless, but as long as there is hope, shame on us for not continuing to try to get this passed..think of those that are worse off than ourselves, those that are not here with us and therefore dont have a voice, those that have just given up completely and have lost everything..if we can save just one other than our selves, it will be worth our time and effort...No one said this would be easy. Unemployment is easy but we are living it...The people of egypt spoke up, the people in WI are speaking up, the 99ers need to speak up...there might not be many of us here on this or other sites, but that only means that you have to double and triple your efforts...we need to get this out of committee, once it is out watch how many followers we then have...so dont feel your efforts are for nothing

See Page 6 for the latest list of Co-Sponsors for HR 589!

additional info:
while there are sixty something co sponsors of this bill, only five of them are on the house ways and means committe, which we need to encourage to get this bill out of committe and to the floor...the five co sponsors of this bill that are on the house ways and means committee are Johnson from TX, Rangel, stark from CA, McDermmott and lewis from GA...
while we are asking that you contact your state rep, this is especially important if your state rep is on the house ways and means committee and has not co sponsored this bill....
yes we are asking for everyone here to man up to pull double duty, to fax, email double even triple what we have done in the past...we are almost to the finish line, we should win this, and we need to have positive attitudes that we can do this but we cannot sit on the sidelines, there are not that many of us contributing to this campaign...we need to do double duty

mary Kay: I just had an idea...could we put together a form letter, that we could cut and paste and have the 99ers send it to their family and friends so they could forward it onto our state representatives...my point is the easier we make it for them the more likely they are to do it...of course we would be individually responsible for giving our family and or friends the email address to send it to...your thoughts and anyone else's thoughts....I was just thinking this the letter could be more personel, use a generic word for family and or friend or say both my family members and or friends....your thoughts....

I see the newest Congressman from Rhode Island, D. Cicilline, is not listed with the current sponsors. This is an opportunity as RI continues to have one of the highest rates of umeployment and Mr. Cicilline is a new member of the HofR. I am not a RI resident ~ live in MA, over the border. Are any of out members from RI that may wish to contact him?

His website is up an running: http://cicilline.house.gov/

Thanks! JJ

I email him once a day, and "tweet" him about five times a day. He
the Congressman for my District. Jim Langevin signed on last week.

No and I am very, very disappointed. I made phone calls for him during his campaign and was invited to the opening of his District office by his top aid.

I don't blame you... I have heard from friends, who are residents of Providence (where he was the former Mayor) that he was out of touch with the citizens of the city. Thus, I am not surprised to read your response. Perhaps, contacting the US Senators from RI may help ~ perhaps they may be able to put some pressure on him. Here is one other idea ~ contacting your town/city mayor??? ~ pressure from them may work... I will see what I can do from here ~ my hands are somewhat tied as a non-RI-resident...

I have been in contact with our Senators for a year now. Sheldon Whitehouse is the most pro-active and has a wonderful staff. As far as a mayor, we don't have one where I live, the town is too small.

This is very helpful Des. In RI, thank you. I think in order fo a 99er bill to pass at this point, the Dems are going to have to give the Reps something to get the vote, a trade.

I am emailing each day. However, Mayors meeting was Friday, Governors was this weekend. In addition to Reps, send your story, our letter, 99ers letter and anything you want to the Mayors and Governors. They are seriously hurting from our "lack" of tax revenue. Working on that today as well as the Senate and the House.

What we need to do is to get President Obama to start pushing for the 99ers. He went out there and advocated to add unemployment to the tax cut bill but where is the support for the 99ers?

President Obama is supposed to be the voice for every American ... we need to push him until he starts advocating for benefits for the longest term unemployed.

He needs to find the voice he had during the 2008 Presidential campaign!
