*Update 3/18/11* New Action Needed by 99ers to help pass H.R. 589!
First topic message reminder :
Dear 99ers:
There are currently 75 Democrat co-sponsors of H.R. 589.
And not one Republican has committed to co-sponsor this bill.
Yet in the House of Representatives there are 193 Democrats and 242 Republicans.
So 75 Democrat cosponsors is a drop in the bucket.
So besides contacting our Republican representatives we need to still work on the Democrats as well.
This is our one chance to get extended unemployment benefits for the 99ers.
Lets not blow this chance.
Lets put every effort into contacting both our Democrat and Republican Congressmen and urge them to cosponsor this bill.
And don't forget the Speaker of the House Boehner. www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_State.shtml
Remember Reps Barbara Lee and Bobby Scott requested our help to get their bill passed in the House.
Once it passes the House and goes to the Senate it will be a whole new ball game there with the Democrats in the majority in the Senate.
The hardest battle is getting support for this bill in the House were the majority are Republicans.
So please keep contacting your Congressmen.
We must not let up if we want to win this fight for unemployment benefits.
Below is the link to the site that lists the contact info for every Congressman.

Thanks for helping nuwanda. We need all the help we can get and we need to keep our voices heard. Please all, contact the Speaker, Mr. Cantor and all the Republicans. Hopefully, with news of the meeting, more and more Democrats will co-sponsor. Ask the Speaker to please read our stories, our letters and ask if he won't consider this legislation, then where are the Republican bills on Job Creation, Tax Advantages for Hiring the Unemployed, Discrimination Against the Unemployed Legislation. They have their extension of the Tax Cuts, now where are the jobs? All due respect, shouldn't the Tax Cuts have been passed once they had agreements in place from many of these companies on the receiving end of these cuts? If you want every piece of legislation put before you to be paid for, did this fact slip your minds? Something for nothing?
Please, work together on this. We have everything to lose if we don't .

That is potentially good news to the millions of 99ers who have been left economically stranded by both political parties, but there are still many hurdles as this situation is still in the discussion stage
