United Nations maybe contacted to help 99ers if H.R. 589 fails to pass
This UN article is a couple of months old, but worth reading because it comes from the UN. And is about the unemployment crisis. The UN is saying if we do not get sufficient enough people working around the globe, the economy will never get better. Like our other Administrator, Shannon says, if we cannot get this H.R. 589 bill passed, maybe our next step is to contact the United Nations. And have the UN urge our Congress to push for an unemployment benefits bill.
We will wait and see how H.R. 589 turns out first before we take any further steps.

We are trying to get some feedback on this option.
And we will think it over good before trying this route.
Plus must wait till we see what happens to H.R. 589.
And even then Gregg Rosen of American 99ers Union and Mike Nickels of UWAG will make the final decision on this.

At this point Im sure 99ers are open to ANY help they can get should this not pass. Even if it does pass, 14 weeks goes by quickly when the jobs still arent there.

Re: United Nations maybe contacted to help 99ers if H.R. 589 fails to pass
Mike Thornton at Examiner weighed in on this and gave some reasons why we should not do this. He pointed out that it would look bad from a public relations standpoint, us asking for benefits when so much of the world has worse problems.
He suggested that if anything we should ask for jobs to be created, that this would look much better.
I tend to agree. The final word on this will actually come from Shannon, an Admin. at UWAG. It was her idea and if she decides to go forward with it, she can do so. The question remains whether or not UWAG or the A99U will officially support the idea of asking the UN to help us get extended benefits, and I respect Michael Thornton's opinion and am leaning towards agreeing with him at this point. Now it remains for Gregg at the A99U to weigh in on this as well, and we of course are looking for feedback from others as well.

Thanks for the update Pdsnickels, I can see the point, especially after the catastrophe in Japan.

Thanks, Jobless...
I just heard back from Shannon and she thinks we should wait before sending any UN letter, too.
If we do it, in the future, we may just write them to ask for job creation support, not extended benefits. This might be a good PR move on the part of 99ers.
