Jersey Refunds Delayed For Months
I thought I'd put this in the Jersey folder as well.
Thousands of Jersey residents had their refunds delayed because of "reviews". Mine was delayed because I claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which because of my income (or lack thereof) we were entitled to. Well, this started back in March when we got a letter saying our refund was being reviewed because we put in for the EITC. That they needed additional information.
Well, after several months and several pieces of "additional information" being sent back to Trenton, I FINALLY got my refund. It was only 7 months late. I would suggest that anyone who's refunds are being delayed and who feels they are entitled to the EITC, or any other tax credits, to keep at them. Send them whatever information they request, and keep calling them. Trenton would like nothing more than for people to simply give up. That way the state has less refund money it needs to send out.
It's a shame the state needs to resort to such tactics because it's broke.
