New Claim has been in PENDING STATUS over 5 weeks now!
So I was with my previous employer for just over 2 years and I my employment was terminated on May 2nd for failure to meet target call time. I worked telephone support and our goal was to answer the call, document and resolve the issue and be ready for the next call all in 8minutes. I was avg. 9-10minutes with EXCELLENT 1st call resolution, not to mention my scored calls (they monitor about 4 calls a month and grade you on them) all about the highest in the entire call center. But because I was unable to meet that call time my employment was terminated, that's exactly what my MGR told me when she brought me into the office to fire me.
I filed unemployment the following week, and not too long after I was mailed all the paperwork with my total benefit amount and weekly amount. Then on May 22nd I had my TELEPHONE INTERVIEW and after telling the agent exactly what I was told by my manager for the reason for my termination the Agent from the Rhode Island Unemployment told me that I was in good shape then, because my unemployment CAN NOT be denied for failure to meet a goal. She said that my claims should be finished and approved by the end of the week or following week the latest. It's now June 29th and since my telephone interview I have not heard anything from Rhode Island Unemployment in anyway shape or form. I check every night when the system updates to find out the status of my "adjudication status" and it's STILL PENDING.
It says on the site after checking status that if it's been more than 3 weeks and your claim is still pending to call the number listed, as I did and have done about 4 times and I am only given the option to leave a voicemail for someone to call me back. Again - STILL NO RESPONSE. Just checking to make sure that this isn't pending because my previous employer gave them a different reason I contacted the HR DEPT and they confirmed the exact reason stated for my termination was failure to meet business standards for call times.
I'm completely broke and since everything should have gone through for approval I accepted financial help from my mother only because I would be able to give her the $ back once my unemployment was approved. Well it's been so long now my mother can no longer help me financially and things have now got to the point I don't have $ for GAS, Insurance, medications, nothing!
My phone will be turned off shortly along with loosing a place to live. I seen a previous post about Unemployment killing people - that was just the title so I have no idea what was actually in the thread - but it's seriously KILLING ME!

Re: New Claim has been in PENDING STATUS over 5 weeks now!
I live in RI also and have been unemployed for four years, two now without benefits. I'm sure you receive your benefits, retroactively. The usual wait for a check is 3 - 4 weeks, however your claim is being processed at a very bad time here. At the end of May, over 300 were laid off at 38 Studios, DLT also had to conduct an investigation due to allegations of employees not being paid for weeks. At the same time, the DLT was laying off 40 or more of its own employees. It was the end of the school year, many teachers and bus drivers, etc were layed off........Blue Cross over 50 employees ........and the list goes on. Hang in there, DLT is understaffed and overwhelmed. Things are getting worse here, as I'm sure you know. When you do start recieving benefits, prepare to have to relocate if you want to work again.

5 weeks is not unheard of. When I first opened my claim in 2009 took 8 weeks! I pray for a speedy resolution.

Re: New Claim has been in PENDING STATUS over 5 weeks now!
craigjr, so sorry to hear of your troubles. Many of our members have experienced these delays. Sadly, the only advice we can give you is to keep calling or to go directly to a UC Service center and request a meeting if there are any that are close enough, so many are strictly call centers now. Keep calling as well. Unfortunately, you have to. Sometimes you have to be a pitbull.
If your claim was being disputed, you should have been notified by mail and you have the option to request a hearing. Since they are understaffed and per desperateinri's post, suffering from layoffs as well, you may just need to stay on top of this aggressively, so nothing falls through the cracks.
Please stay in touch and let us know of your progress. Hopefully it will be resolved shortly. We have all been where you are, anxious and nervous about paying bills etc.
