Ok, So I landed a job after over 3 years
First topic message reminder :
In the past 3 years of my unemployment I have lost my house, my car, my sister. I have filed for bankruptcy and have gotten 3 years older. For some reason I am not excited about getting this 6 month temp assignment, and with tomorrow as my first day to report I am feeling anxious and need an attitude adjustment quick! 6 months will fly by and I will still be in the same boat. What is wrong with me?

Now that doesn't make sense. If you are a temp and you know the job why not convert you to full time?

So sorry windeecity. Welcome back, but they are hollow words I am sure. I am glad you got the full six months. That will help in establishing your claim. It's hard to say anymore about the claim, they may open a new one or may use up your 12 weeks and then start a new one. Every state is so different now.
With your six months, it will give you an edge, you have some history and in your area, they will know that the layoff is due to the move.

Re: Ok, So I landed a job after over 3 years
I just wanted to update you on my California EDD claim. I worked full time from March through the end of September. I filed for UI on October 2 and received my award letter 12 days later. Either the EDD made a mistake or the Temp service did, but it was grossly under reported - stating my 2nd quarter total wages were only 2300.00. I then had to open a recomputation file with the EDD to investigate why over 2 months of wages were not reported and where the 2300.00 amount came from.
The Temp service blamed it on the EDD and the EDD blamed it on the Temp Service...I ping ponged back and forth on the phone with both and it took 4 weeks to straightened this out. No one fessed up on who made the error, so for a few weeks I lived on 103.00 a week waiting.
I finally got it corrected to 323.00 a week and rec' the arrears a few days ago. Just another nightmare for me.
Since I did not work the first quarter or the last quarter in 2010 (cant remember what they actually said) I am entitled to 16 weeks of UI not 26. I guess this also leaves me ineligible for any extensions if they were to be renewed by Congress next month. Hopefully I will not need EDD's assistance beyond the 16 weeks, but with my last round of being unemployed for 3 years it just gets harder and harder to find something. I am already in the process of planning for the Spring and Summer with no money, then maybe I can reopen another claim in October 2012.

oh windee, don't know what to say. I am not sure about eligibility of an extension, you should be, but I would check with them. Not what you want to hear, but anyone here would be guessing.
I hope the search goes better for you this time. Here in NJ it's pitiful, 3-1/2 years for me. Glad to hear from you, will pray it gets better for you and for all members. Just remember, we're here when you need us.

Make sure you get the right information. Go to your state unemployment website and check the laws. That don't sound right. You worked the last six months. That should be an easy 20 weeks. Enough to qualify in most states.
Perhaps you have to wait a few weeks to be in the next quarter. That has happened to me.
