After 3.5 yrs of soul crushing unemployment, my husband finaly went back to work!!
Yes, after 3.5 yrs of torture, he is finaly back! He just started back yesterday, in his chosen profession making $2 more an hour than when he was laid off. I cant believe it! He is so happy. Now we can hopefully start to rebuild our lives. We honestly had started to think it would never happen but by the grace of god it did!

Thanks sportsnut! It seems construction is really picking up here in mass. He is so happy!! Lets pray the work continues to come in, this job is safe until at least July and the shop owner says there is more work coming up after that as well. He got in with a great shop and crew.

After 2 1/2 years ...
Sick and Tired:
I'm so happy that he's been hired back. My question has to do with how you dealt with his unemployment. I've been unemployed for over 2 years myself, and I sense that my fiance is done trying to understand why I can't ("won't") get a job. Maybe it would be different if she and I were married, but it seems she's given me an un-verbalized ultimatum.
Thanks,
Ed

Im sorry to hear that, eberck.
I can say for myself I have known my husband for many years. We have been together for 20 yrs. I know him very well and I know for him being out of work was the worst thing that could ever happen to him. This site helped me understand a lot too. through the articles and stories posted on this site I saw that it was not only us going through it, but millions of people.
Does your fiance get involved with your job search at all? that might help a bit if she sees with her own eyes how hard your trying. I have to say, its not for everyone. There are quite a few spouses that just cant deal with it. We have had our ups and downs but we some how made it through so far. We also have children and they need both of us so that has something to do with it. I can tell you, if you can make it through this together you can make it through anything...it isnt easy at all. Try to keep her informed of the facts about long term unemployment. That might help too.
I hope it works out for you! God bless
