First Vote on American Jobs Act Scheduled in Senate for Tuesday, October 11
http://www.chn.org/humanneeds/111010b.htmlThe President’s package was introduced by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) (S. 1660) and it is scheduled to be taken up on the Senate floor late Tuesday, October 11. This first vote is on limiting debate (cloture). It will require 60 votes, which means it will not be possible to move the bill forward without some Republican support as well as near unanimity among Democrats. Neither of these is certain.
The Coalition on Human Needs sent a letter of support for the Senate version of the American Jobs Act to every senator on Friday, October 7. Whether or not the legislation has enough votes to move forward now, if Congress sees that many constituencies want this kind of action on jobs, the chance that substantial parts of the bill will be adopted improves.
There is likely to be bipartisan support for extending the payroll tax cut now in place and for cutting the employer share of the payroll tax as well. Advocates are concerned that if the package is picked apart, some of the elements most beneficial to low-income people would be dropped (such as summer and year-round jobs for youth, subsidized jobs, and other targeted aid for the long-term unemployed, including the continuation of the federal unemployment insurance program). The new unemployment data shows how important these provisions are.

Here is a list of Senators and Reps for each state with all their contact info, i.e., email, phone, fax, Facebook and Twitter.
http://www.whatisworking.com/2011/05/contact-congress-address-phone-twitter.html
At his press conference on Friday, President Obama asked all the unemployed (and everyone else who cares about the American economy) to CONTACT THEIR SENATORS! The American people did it at the end of July over the debt ceiling mess, but no one is doing it now!!
This bill needs the support of 60 Senators, therefore, Republicans are going to have to cross their party lines to even get this bill out of the Senate and on to the House, where there will be tougher challenges!
Unemployment extensions could stop at the end of the year and there will be no help for the long term unemployed or "99ers". This is the last chance! Please don't give up now!

This list is fabulous. Thanks to DIR for posting it. No excuses, call, tweet email or fax. Just make sure at least one of your Representatives/Senators hears your story and your voice.

McConnell speaking about bill now. calling it a second stimulus, saying of course it will fail, and funding it on higher taxes for the rich will hurt the chances of job creation!!

They only need 51. Reid went nuclear. Still might not pass though. That will add fuel to the protest.

He went nuclear on bringing it to the Floor today. To move further, it is going to require 60 "yays". Can he go nuclear again?
This first vote is on limiting debate (cloture). It will require 60 votes, which means it will not be possible to move the bill forward without some Republican support as well as near unanimity among Democrats. Neither of these is certain. Congressional Quarterly (CQ) reports that some Republicans including Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsay Graham (R-SC) might vote to limit debate if they were promised the opportunity to offer amendments to the President’s package. On the other hand, Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) voiced opposition to the cost of the President’s bill. That does not preclude him from voting to move the bill forward.

Keep screaming, tweeting and emailing. If you want this bill passed, it's too important to stay silent.

Browns office the kid was clueless. Brown is keeping an open mind on the issues. Supports payroll tax cut (duh) and getting veterans back to work in programs. That's about it.

Ok. I try not to do this often but here goes.
1208 did you actually think there was provisions for 99ers in there? No where has there ever been mention of it being included in the Jobs bill to be voted on.
2ndly I blame both parties. I think the blame game has run it's course.
Look at the protests happening around the country right now. These are not exclusively left-wing whackos as I've heard them called.
These are folks of all walks of life all parties etc.
If we TRULY as a nation of concerned citizens are going to make a statement then we need to as a group; unite and see what is happening.
It is coming from both ends right now. This divide amongst Americans is what they want, divide and conquer.
Oldest play in the book.
Let's put politics aside for a change and look at the BIG picture.
