Mom passed away this morning at 1o:15 am

Mom passed peacefully at about 10:15am. Her heart simply slowed and then she stopped breathing. Please keep me in your prayers.

Mom's friends Donna, Janet and Cindy from church went up to visit today and they saw improvement. When they'd talk to her she would respond.. moving her eyebrows, etc. Donna felt it wasn't involuntary because mom would react when a mention of my name, or Ed's.. and other members of our families names was mentioned. Donna came back from that visit feeling very positive. She said Mom looked good and seemed at peace. I still have hope and faith, though my older brother seems to be preparing for the worse. Prayers are still needed for me and Mom to get through this.

That is good news, continuing the healing thoughts and prayers for your mom and the family.

Hopeful news! Maybe there is a miracle in store for your Mom. Keep the faith!

Thanks everyone. I'm trying to take it one day at a time but me and mom have been living off her SS and Navy Annuity. Have no income of my own so I'm scared outta my wits. I have 4 cats and they are the ones that are keeping me together with their love and kisses. If I lose them... well, don't wanna go there.

The doctor at the hospital called my oldest brother a short while ago to tell him that Mom's condition provides no hope of recovery. The one test, an EEG, tests brain electrical activity. The test showed she has none. The second test measures brain response and the stronger the response, the more likely a recovery is possible. Mom had NO response at all. They confirm again that the eye movements under her eyelids that Donna mentioned were simply involuntary movements.

They now are preparing her for removal from the ventilator. They will be monitoring her closely and she will feel no discomfort. However, they cannot say how long she may breathe unassisted. They did say that she is not "keeping up with the ventilator", so it is likely she won't linger for long.

I feel so damn alone and don't know what the hell I'm gonna do.

I am deeply saddened by this. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Called the hospital and they put the phone up to her hear... I talked to her and the nurse definitely said she responded. Her vitals also went up. Called my oldest bro to tell him and he said he would call the hospital. He basically called me a liar. It's been 2 hours and he hasn't called back. Maybe we have a miracle in the making.

I just spoke with Rhiannon. The nurses said her Mother responded to her voice on the telephone.
Rhiannon is in that awful, numb, terrified, dark place we all have known.
I send her the blessings of Sekhmet - healing and power...

So sorry to hear this. As I told you before, I was caretaker for both my parents. It may be too early for this, BUT hold on to the fact that you were there for you re Mom. You will always have that.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of your mom. Nutty is right, although it may not seem like it now, you will always find peace in knowing that you were there for her.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Right now I'm still numb and it hasn't really sucken in yet that she's gone. This house is so quiet and I haven't been able to go into her room yet. Thank god my oldest brother is taking care of funeral arrangements which right now are tentatively set for next Tuesday.

I'm so sorry, I don't have many words to offer other then to remember that you did everything right and supported her which speaks volumes about you as a person. You both are a wonderful example to us all of your love as a family, your love for each other and the bond you will always have; my families prayers go out to you and yours.
