What is the worse thing you had to give up.. Me.. My Sight

3 weeks ago I put in my last pair of contacts.. ( glasses broke a year ago) I am only suppose to wear them a month but have gone 2 months to make them last.. Now my eyes are infected I am guessing from pushing it with the last pair of contacts. I can not see anything close or far with out them. I will be leaglly blind.
I am already selling my car IF someone buys it I might be able to get new contacts if not I am not only Hungry but blind too..

AND yes I have called everywhere.. No one will help me get glasses... I would get better treatment if I stole them and got 3 squares and a cot... at least I would have heath care and a meal..

Ugh. Im sorry to hear that Judi, ye infections are not something to take lightly, it can cause blindness if left untreated. Please try and take care of yourself.

Check to see if your nearest LIONS Club. Many collect old glasses and may know someone who could help. You should seek treatment for your eyes. That is something that can be fixed. Go to a Free Clinic if not the Emergency at your hospital.

I checked the LIONs Club Free Clinic will give me a eye exam no glasses.. Emergency wont treat me for a eye exam and infection not bad enough YET.. that's what they told me last week... Wash my eyes out and keep out contacts... that works then I cant see... sorry I am just frustrated.. Begged for mental health they took my food stamps for 60 days because I didnt show up for the job thing.. I didnt have gas to go and it is way far to take a bus..

i AM JUST DONE... I hate my excuses I want my life back the one I had before where I ate went to the doctors took my son for dinner on his birthday... got gas when I needed it I hate this life I hate being hungry and pathedic..

I'm so sorry Judi. Thats horrible. I dont think others (especially GOP) really know what we have lost and had to endure being unemployed. They dont see the whole picture and its frustrating as hell.

I lost my house we owned for 15 yrs. and myself, my husband, and kids are living in my mother in laws unfinished basement, my teeth are falling out, we sold our wedding rings and my engagement ring as well as most of our personal belongings that were worth anything. This life is no fun at all and is quite draining. I have lost friends because I am too embarrassed about my situation. There is more but you all get the picture lol. I have never, ever in my life been as bad off as I am now. EVER!!

Judi - I am so sorry for this very personal attack on your being!!
Some days I can 'pretend' it's a game but other days it's a freaking nightmare. One of the most cruel, hurtful elements of my husband's lay off was I believe it was to remove me from their health insurance as I had numerous surgeries (preventively mostly) the previous two years. I HATE that against the law individuals used that info to harm and completely devastate my DH career after over 20 yr with corp!!

So now we are 'naked' with no insurance but with God's grace are quite healthy, thank you very much!! Living as happily as possible is the only revenge?

Could you try the otc/reading glasses? Would they be any help? Do you have any free health clinics nearby where you could request assistance? Peace and best wishes for answers to come...

Had my son bring me a extra keyboard while other dries out...

i wear otc w/ contacts to read.. I know we are all in a mess and yes today is bad... I have tried every avenue for my eyes.. and all dead ends. I even told SSI i would be blind get SSI and then I would get my sight back,, It is a nightmare I hope to wake up from soon....

Judi58 I'm sorry for what they're putting you through...Unfortunately I went through the same thing, only I have MS. I fought too many times to recieve disability and lost. So in Dec. of last year someone gave me a number to call an agency (something like Binder & Binder). The advocate I spoke to told me to go to social services (welfare) with documentation from who diagnosed me, all of my bills, etc. I did that and they accepted me reguardless if we have no kids under 18...They don't tell you that at social services. They don't volunteer any info. Bottom line, they gave me my food stamps and Medicaid card. Unfortunately it takes a month here in Jersey. She then said after that, apply for as many social programs that I can (like energy assistance, property tax assistance, water, etc), then contact SSI disability to open a case. I did that with the agency where she worked and I won after 3 months without a court case. Yes, 3 months is a while but at least you'll have your food stamps, some cash aid, and Medicaid while waiting beforehand. This way you could get your eyes taken care of and get your glasses.

p.s. forgot to mention, even though your children are over 18 and live with you, tell social services that they cook their meals at seperate times of the day. Then they will give you more food stamps.

I was in Jersey when I was laid off.. ( they transfered me there 10 months later laid off) came back to CA .. I have cried and begged for not only help for my eyes but mental health. I was told "Buck and find a job" I have been so close to giving up for good.. Honestly... My son is a senior in College.. if I did anything it would hurt him more then anyone and I would be selfish to do that to him a this point.. He could not handle that... otherwise I would have givin up when I lost UI..2 weeks from losing my apt and no food in the cabinet.. Food stamps cut because I didnt go to job class... I am in school and will get money in July I pray I make it...

Start looking for foundations in your area. Call them and ask if they can help you. Sometimes the foundations have funds set aside just for emergency cases. Google should be able to start you in the right direction. Even if the foundation doesn't sound like it's charitable goal is the same, call anyway - they may lead you to a foundation that will help you.

Worst thing I had to give up was a lot of my camera equipment...ie lenses and camera bodies...

Its no joke , my wife ordered a pair about 2 weeks ago, got tint added and a scratch resistance lense for a total of $34. It was a steal. I had this time where the local eye doctor office, was challenging me taking so long to pay copay, about 100 bucks, and I have to work on the bill for some months. I said I went to your website, and your doctors are constantly going overseas, America is poor enough now you should be staying home. There are poor people here. They never hassled me about another bill again but they are still running overseas while americans go without glasses.

Thank you for asking... A good friend gave me the 120.00 I needed to buy the box of contacts... Made the deadline for a new RX by 2 days... So I am good for 4-5 months..
