Economy just getting worse
No matter what the government may say, the economy is not getting better. I read today, Sears will be closing more stores and possibly be going out of business in 2-3 years. The number of people unemployed just keeps growing each and everyday, I wonder how many millions of people are unemployed now. check out the website (dailyjobcuts.com) everyday it posts layoffs occuring all over the country, also closures of business on a daily basis.
I truly believe that getting a job these days is equivalent to winning the lottery in how brutal it is out there. I feel so discouraged, my husband has been out of permanent work for 2 years, last temp job ended six weeks ago. He has had only temp jobs since January 2012, collecting unemployment in between. It is so discouraging, I wonder if ever he will be hired fulltime again, or at least a temp job that lasts more than 3 months would be nice.
Thank God i'am working otherwise we would be on the streets, but when the unemployment runs out, we will not be able to pay all of our bills. By the Grace the of God!

The economy contracted last quarter. I believe 2 more quarters of zero growth and we "officially" will be in another recession

I doubt everyone got a job, I just think their is nothing much else to say, the situation probably has not changed for most. Probably hopelessness or despair has taken hold. I know I feel despair at times. I wish this site was more active too.
I 'am feeling despair right now, and anger over this unemployment situation, so I still come here and vent every now and then.
I just think things are not really any better, if anything probably worse for most, that is probably the sad reality. :

There's other unemployment sites. I'm not sure how they're doing. I usually don't visit them. My guess is they're doing about the same as this one.
The government simply waited us out, and as they hoped (and prayed), the unemployed/underemployed gave up and disbursed. I guess the politicians got tired of being bombarded with faxes, emails, phone calls, and tweets when we were in our hay day.
Any politician who voted against either extending benefits beyond 99 weeks, or who voted against maintaining the existing benefits thru the end of this year, needs to be voted out of office in November. That's all we have left! I'm sure when the time comes, if this site is still open, a list will be generated of the politicians who voted against us.

You are probably right, the unemployed simply do not have a voice. We are forgotten, no body cares. Right now I feel so discouraged and upset, i'am literaly in tears right now!
I'am sure i'am not alone, i'am sure there are millions feeling the same way. Just venting!

A few still show up at the other site:
http://unemployed-friendz.forumotion.com/ at least it has daily posters.
Honestly I think a lot of unemployed people feel we have no voice and we were abandoned by politicians as well as society. We have talked for four years now about voting out the politicians who ignored us. We were poked and prodded to call, fax, email, snail mail congress. Hell one time we even sent in shoes. Advocating accomplished nothing. We have been sacrificed and there are no repercussions for those in power.

Been out of work five years and I know we are forgotten but there is news once in a while and I was just asking if there is a more active forum. The only one I can find with daily activity is the fiendz site at forumotion.

Wanted to check in with some of the people I used to advocate with and they are over there. That Mr golf has always made me cry and Chit and Carol keep a lot of pornography stuff posted. Lisa is still her old bitchy self and just loves to ban new members! Hope you get some company on this site it is just great. Thanks anyway tho!

The economy is getting better, there is no "work lottery"
I disagree about the economy not getting better. The dollar index is on a gaining streak not seen in years. The QE program his finally tapering, so our self-inflicted currency devaluation can stop. Gold and silver are down but all commodities move inversely with the dollar. The fall in precious metals prices should induce more to invest in them.
The major indexes have slipped in the past few days, but still the investors have seen huge gains this year. The unemployment rate is only in the 6 % range, and new companies are hiring.
Getting a job is not like winning the lottery. You have a skill set that matches the employer’s needs. You and several others compete for the same position. The employer selects the best candidate. There are a few instances where someone was hired through nepotism or other invalid reason, but for the most part an individual is hired and retained based upon his/her experience, education, knowledge and know-how.
One way to fight back is to make yourself seen and heard. Go to local businesses and give them your resume. Explain to business owners your situation, and see if you can get a food-for-work arrangement. Ask local churches for help. Talk to local civic leagues and other organizations and tell them about yourself.
In those periods where your husband is between temp jobs, let him get with the other unemployed in your area. They can discuss ways to improve their situation, brainstorming on ways to get jobs back to their area. They can form small labor squads that canvass neighborhoods soliciting for work. These labor squads can operate work as a food-for–work program. Eventually they will cross the paths of someone that will hire them full time.

I would advise staying away from that vicious site and individuals. Very nasty. Most have been banned from this site a long time ago for their actions and behavior.

It's a rabid clique of individuals. If you don't agree with their views, you'll be harrassed and defamed all over the internet. I still have all the correspondence I've had with them over the years and it's not pretty.Lester wrote:lizalphonso wrote:Been out of work five years and I know we are forgotten but there is news once in a while and I was just asking if there is a more active forum. To whomever reported an abuse about Lester's post, it is unfounded. As I said, I have all the documentation to back up his statement.
Grow up and knock it off! The reason many of us still sit here with no job and no hope is because the Unemployed cannot get along with each other. We were so divided it made it so easy for them to conquer. Sad stuff like this still exists. Even sadder, they are grown adults.

Please stop flagging this as abusive. If people come here giving their reviews and promoting another site, members here have the right to express their opinions also. It goes both ways!

I have not reported any post but i do know that the ADMIN LESTER altered that post which is not right by any means , if they didnt like the post they should have just deleted it not altered it !
Altering a post that way is IMO why this site has so few people posting on it !

Glad you saw the original post as well. You are correct on both counts the wording was changed and that kind of crap is why no one posts here anymore.

REALLY??? Please explain why youuse two different ID's here and post from 9 different IP addresses. Antics like yours are the reason these forums have died out. Immature, nasty games caused by TROLLS like you have cost the unemployed any hope of being taken seriously. Go back to your "Friendz", we don't need your dual personalities here.lizalphonso wrote:oncemore wrote:I have not reported any post but i do know that the ADMIN LESTER altered that post which is not right by any means , if they didnt like the post they should have just deleted it not altered it !
