Response from Greg Rosen (99ers Union) in regards to GOP bills H.R. 1745 and S. 904
Good Morning xxxxx,
I would suggest that just as the GOP have now pulled back from trying to reform Medicare, as relates to the budget, due to public outcry (something the right side unanimously pushed so hard for), so too will this proposal die, as a result of pushback by both Democratic Representatives as well public outcry.
The reality is that all of the recent economic data, with the exception of today’s BLS unemployment report (which is full of contradictions) point to an economic and unemployment problem that are at best crawling along at an anemic pace, or in most instances moving backwards.
Dave Camp is the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, but one individual can only stand in the way of the inevitable but for so long. During today’s senate joint economic committee panel meeting regarding the April jobs report & the economy, even joint economic committee vice chairman, Republican representative Kevin Brady said, “this is by any measure a weak recovery”.
You cannot have seven million plus Americans unable to play an active role in the economy, via the purchase of goods and services, and logically ever expect to rebuild the economy and get Americans back to work.
The House ways and Means Committee is comprised of both republican and democrat, so it is the responsibility of the 99er community to continue making their voices heard. I again refer back to the outcome of the debate on Medicare. It was public outcry that made the difference and it is public outcry that will make the difference in the fight to extend unemployment insurance beyond 99 weeks.
Side note: I would suggest that all of your members tune in to the Unemployment Roundtable, hearing the real facts and figures with respect to the economy and unemployment will provide them with the ammunition and motivation needed to continue taking action.
Regards,

Thank goodness, I thought I was going out of my mind, a light in the darkness.

We need to create awareness and push for the public outcry against these two bills just as hard as we are pushing for HR 589 if we want to see any kind of help in the near future!
Call me "pushy", call me anything you want! We need to take action fast! My life (and yours) depend on this.

Maybe this will be what unites the unemployed? They seem to have a way of pushing bad bills and getting people in their faces. For example WI and the medicaid crowd.
