I saw an interview on YouTube and he was expressing his feelings about Sarah Palin...it was great! He is very much in tune with the problems in this country.

I wonder if he is old enough to run for President? If not, he would make a great Senator!

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
Matt Damon is quite correct. I watched that segment and he's right. President Obama may have won the Presidency by running on a unique new platform but he really dropped the ball and has failed the American People.
Now, I hope he's able to turn it around but for the President of the United States to continue to ignore and refuse to address the plight of the longest term unemployed by NOT advocating for the 99ers, it's just one particular sin that I cannot forgive him for.
President Obama is supposed to be looking out for the unemployed and to get us back to work. So far? Not a single job has been created and he still refuses to mention the 99ers in any of his speeches. He hasn't advocated for us at all, since we became an issue in early 2010.

Im definitely disappointed in Obama, so much for Hope and change. I didn't expect miracles to happen, but certainly expected more from him on getting the jobs back and taking care of the unemployed.
When Hollywood starts criticizing Obama you know things arent looking good.

Obama didn't do anything for 99ers in 2010 when his party ran everything, why would he do something now?

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
I never expected any dramatic results either but I did expect to see some progress. Telling everybody that the "stimulus" worked and that unemployment rate is down is not enough to convince me. The stimulus failed to create jobs and the unemployment rate comments are just a blatant lie.
Americans know that the unemployment rate is falsely reported and yet the White House keeps reporting it that way.
Plus, where is the unemployment extensions for the 99ers? Obama could have included us in that tax cut bill but he didn't. If I didn't know better, I'd swear he seems to think we're the petty little ants that Republicans regard Americans as.

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
I will tell you this and its VERY worrisome! I have 200/mo to run on. Thats for groceries and gas for my car. thats it! And when I put 6 gals of gas in my car and that 23.00... I get very scared. I am deeply concerned to Obama because he worries about the foreign countries and tells them what to do. Libya deserves it, and yet he does nothing! Shows no power whatsoever...AND he isn't even accomplishing anything about the gas crisis! If he doesn't get a handle quickly, I assure its good night time for this country! He better stop the 4.00$/ gal of gas NOW! I can't live on 200/mo... I get to now be with my grandkids and go to their house at 5 an. and get them up and take them to school and pick them up. I am a blessed grand father and I only live a couple miles from them... also when I drive 16 miles to VA hospital and clinics then I fill up my gas it is now taking everything i have to run on for gas .. He better wake up and Fast! Otherwise if you Obama supporters want to ride a sinking ship down then stay on it and you will! I am angry nothing is getting fixed and now a gas crisis!! I say this!!! We will SOON start to see massive layoff's because companies getting on their recovery feet absolutely afford the major expense of higher operating cost! They just can't/ heck if thy ain't hiring now to hold down business payrolls then what the heck are they going to do now that gas is so high. Anyone get this picture????? Economy is not booming... Not at all. And now gas is going up mainly because of th controlling companies use any crisis or news event to rape us and then pay billions in bonuses to exec's and now the businesses will fall. This ride is OVER!!!! Obama, Better become a president! he has done NOTHING except a flawed healthcare plan and thats all he has t ride on and that is flawed....

Contact your Congressman and Woman. Let us not put all the blame on the president. He is ONE MAN. Congress is full of MEN. Contact the ones who make and break the laws.
Its easy to blame the guy on top and not look at what happens in between.
Obama didn't make you lose your job or your house or anything else.
Contact the ones who allowed it to happen. Share that anger with them.

Agree with JIM. The President's hands are tied. There is nothing he can do as long as Congress chooses to make their job of creating and passing legislation a political game.
The President DOES NOT create of enact legislation - that is the power given to the Legislative Branch of Government in the United States Constitution!
Give the guy a break! Look at what he is up against!

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
This is the second public remark Mr. Damon has made about the Administration in the past month. He does continue to state that if Obama runs again he will vote for him. My impression is Mr. Damon is encouraging more public dialogue about what we want from our President. In one interview he acknowledged he invites "power brokers" from both political sides to his home for lunch for him to better understand what is going on politically. One lunch included a Republican against new Health Care to which Mr. Damon stated his guest explained the fundamental difference between Republicans and Democrats with healthcare is "the Republicans believe healthcare is a priviledge and the Democrats believe healthcare is a right". Mr. Damon's mother is a teacher and holds a graduate degree in education.
The women of the View have also begun "soft" discussions that include their support of Obama but their desire to see more proactive postures against the conservative side of Republican Party. I think we will be seeing more of these "soft" promptings from other entertainers in the near future.

Hey desperate, I agree his hands are tied...but his mouth is not. He could lend a voice to things he has no power over....sometimes ya just want to know the guy you voted for still cares about ya even if he can't do anything about it. It's called a warm & fuzzy.
I for one, every once in a while could use a warm and fuzzy just so I know he still cares. Words can be just as strong as actions.

Dang Good Will Hunting how do ya like them apples.
Very impressed, I will be even more impressed if he gets his Hollywood buds to fight for us.
After all with no money how can we go to the movies, buy dvd's, or buy your daughter a heart throb poster. Especially when she doesn't have her own room.
Hey Matt & Benn make a movie about us.

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
I agree that the president does not have the power to help us according to the law, but his voice could make a difference. If he would utter a few words of support towards 99ers getting help, I truly believe it would help the cause.
I Matt Damon! As an actor AND a person. He grew up a few towns over from my hubby and his family. He is a great guy.

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
I wish this included all exhaustees. I'm a 99er but imagine the people who still aren't working that live in a state where they only got 26 (or whatever but not 99) weeks and are STILL unemployed from 2008! I mean sure it's an uphill battle to shine light on those of us drowning out here now so advoacting for displaced workers in lower rate states is a joke at best. But how do human beings think that it is okay that millions of hard US workers should be left to twist in the wind. While the people that put them there rake it in hand over fist. It's just mind boggling.

I did NOT vote for this disaster Obummer and I never never would. I would not care if Mickey Mouse was on the other side running.....anything but this leader-lacking cluster $%)&.
I say give Obummer the link for this website and let him thumb through the comments of pain and despair on here. Maybe then he might get it. He should have time to do this. After all, he had time to fill out his NCAA brackets in the Oval Office on a Monday afternoon during business hours.

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
I agree the Pres does not make the laws but any reasonable person after 2 years of Obama as pres has to agree he needs to at least lend his voice to this situation.I mean for crist sake he is the leader of the free world when he speaks people listens. He needs to get into the game now people cannot hold on much longer..

Re: Matt Damon Lays Into President Obama on Economy, Unemployment
It all boils down to public perception. If they perceive things are improving by not mentioning how bad things really are its in his favor. Its all about getting re-elected.
