I will say it again 25 million unemployed can't fit into 192,000 jobs.

Re: Breaking News: Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.9%
Once again we fall shot of the nearly 300k needed to break even. It should read, US economy fails to add enough jobs to impact the unemployment rate.

but they CONTROL it, They spin it to the Media, Media reports ALL is LOOKING GREAT, Stupid brainwashed people BELIEVE what they are told, Makes all the world to see NEW unemployment extension NOT NEEDED, Unemployed are JUST lazy people who won't get a job, Hatred and discrimination against unemployed continues, Things below surface GETS WORST while all the idiots are having a picnic.

I would LOVE to see the day when the congressmen (and women), and those Wall Street execs get pulled kicking and screaming out of their offices, and getting what they deserve! Can anyone say, "JUSTICE!"?

All that means is more people became 99'ers and are no longer counted.

It means that we can no longer trust the reports coming out of the Obama Administration. It's obvious, even to a three year old, that the real numbers aren't being reported.

And most of those 192k are most likely part time or on call positions. Its disheartening...

kemcha wrote:Boehner is an old goat who doesn't know what he's talking about. Unemployment Rate drops to 8.9%. Pardon me, but only 192,000 jobs were created. Excuse me for saying this but the economy needs to create more than 300,000 jobs in order to affect the unemployment rate. 192,000 jobs is far less than 300,000 jobs.
Somebody is deliberately fudging those reports ... remember that 300,000 jobs are needed to affect the unemployment rate because of the new generation of workers entering the workforce.
What is his excuse for 16 million unemployed Americans being out of work? Where's the jobs for Americans?
300,000 jobs need to be created each month for something like the next 2 years to get unemployment down to 6%. Ain't happening my friend.

I've been wondering the same thing. All of a sudden it seem like Boehner is our President and Cantor is the VP.
Obama, Biden, Pelosi and Reid need to find their voice!

Could you tell me where you came up with the "6%" number? There needs to be job creation of at least 300,000, in order to affect the unemployment rate. It would take a substantial greater number of far more than 300,000 jobs to affect the unemployment rate in such a way that it would drop to 6%.
The 300,000 is quoted because not only would that many jobs be needed to put unemployed Americans back to work but also to place those Americans just starting to enter the workforce. That number would have to be sustained for at least three months in order to make any kind of mark on the unemployment rate.
The 8.9% rate is being quoted, merely because they're only counting those who are collecting unemployment benefits. As more and more unemployed become re-classified as 99ers, this is having an effect on the unemployment rate, which is why they are reporting the 8.9%.
Despite the promise to add the 99ers to the BOL report, the Obama Administration still isn't including us in those reports.

Yes this is a brand new forum, all old UF material and posts are gone but we have restored a lot of the data base on our own. Myself and a few others have worked very hard to restore the community. Its a new Unemployed friends. We welcome you and hope you stick around.
Re: Breaking News: Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.9%
Mr.Munster I agree with your numbers i also agree that the media reports only what they want us to hear. We have no voice!
Just heard this past week from a friend who works in a high corp position for a major bank.
Told me that the banks are planning to let go of all the homes they have been holding onto, in the next few months. When this happens home values will drop another 25%.
No media on this issue, Gee i wonder why.....NOT!

Re: Breaking News: Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.9%
Would anyone be able to tell me how this putative drop in unemployment affects the tiers and moving from one tier to another? I am on Tier 1 right now and just wondering does unemployment rate affect whether or not there will be a tier 2 for me? tier 3? Thanks!

Re: Breaking News: Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.9%
Mary, I just posted a segment from PBS --- it will take 5M jobs to just bring the UE rate to 8%. After two years of being unemployed I am now temping at my former firm (exeuctive recruiting services) where I worked from 1999-2004 --- their current focus is building and expanding their presence in Asia and job creation there.

Re: Breaking News: Unemployment Rate Drops to 8.9%
It won't affect tiers 1 through 3. As for tier 4, it depends on the state you live in and what the ue rate is for your state when you hit tier 4. If it is under 8.5%, you will not be eligible for tier 4 or EB. A lot could happen between then and now. Hopefully, they will stop spinning the numbers and start reporting fact.
