How much is GAS in your area
On top of all unemployment and economy GAS prices are going up
To add fuel to the fire, Gas prices are going up again. They blame Libya but its not really the case. I think oil companies like to use these little skirmishes in other countries as a means to price gauge.
HOw much is gas going up in you area.
$3.70 for reg here

How about they give gas cards to unemployed people for help getting to job interviews? Is that too much socialism or is corporate socialism the norm?
The GOP just voted to cut 4 Billion from the budget. Not sure what will be cut yet but they voted for it.
Another vote came up to cut 30 billion from subsidies to oil companies. NOBODY in the GOP voted for it.

A few cents from 4 bucks a gallon. We have a 44 mile round trip each day for work. That's not so bad, in a 4 cylinder Small SUV. But We live high up on a mountain so we have to climb that sucker each day and that eats our lunch in fuel. Can't afford to move either so we are kinda stuck at the moment.

Todays gas price was 3.81 in Ventura County CA, and in other parts of the county it is 4.05 and still rising! My old PT Cruiser has only been getting 17 miles a gallon. Costs me 10.00 a day in gas to go back and forth to that new temp job. I don't dare drive anywhere I don't have to since I cannot afford to fill it up more then once a week.

I read in the HuffPo yesterday that the price of oil topped $100 per barrel. You know what that means in the next month or so -- almost $5 a gallon at the gas pumps.
Thankfully, we are finished with the worst part of winter (I hope) so people don't have to worry about home heating oil so much until next fall.

This is like the perfect storm. NO JOBS RISING GAS PRICES THE RICH GET TAX BREAKS CORPORATE THIEVES PAY NO TAXES UNION FOLKS ALREADY FIGHTING BACK. Now we just need the millions of unemployed to wake up and join the fight. Unfortunately that only seems to happen when the checks run out and they figure out nobody is gonna ride in on a white horse and save the day.

....and don't forget the humanitarian aid we will be sending for a million people in Libya who are in need. That was on the front page of the Huffington Post today.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe we have a humanitarian crisis right here in our own country right now and it affects over 35 million people!

Tell you what!! We are headed for a big collapse in economy again! Its here because of Libya fighting and also because of Japan's hugh quake and the tsunami isn't just going to be water.. And lastly, Gas prices on top of that!!!!
The only advantage the long term unemployed has is we know how to deal and live in reality!

Same here on LI. Dropped about 15 cents. Of course it's not at the level it should be at, but I guess the Saudi's are honoring their word in keeping up with the supply side.

Re: On top of all unemployment and economy GAS prices are going up
I have to get gas today. Unfortunately, the car given to me takes premium and it's higher than regular. Saturday it was 3.69. I will let you know.
I only drive when absolutely necessary and do all errands on the same day and make a route so I don't go too far out of the way just to try to save a little. I have to be honest, about 5 years ago, we were at $5 here and I did the same thing, I was working full time then, but just couldn't justify wasting the gas. It' not just affordability for me, I just refuse to give that much money to the oil companies. I will walk when I can and limit my travels unless it's an emergency.

Re: On top of all unemployment and economy GAS prices are going up
It hasn't dropped here yet but it will. The price of gas today has nothing to do with the wars, it is all based on speculators that are betting on oil prices going up. When a lot of people by a commodity it urges other people to buy even more and the very act of buying that many shares makes the price of oil go up which makes the price of gas go up. I realize this is obvious but it would be so easy to solve. If we cut out the speculators this would stop immediately. We are basically paying an extra dollar a gallon so some suit in NYC can get rich.
The word is getting out that the price of oil is about to bottom out so less people are going to invest in it and this will cause the price to drop.

Re: On top of all unemployment and economy GAS prices are going up
Demand for gas is lower as well, and this increases the price. 15 million folks not driving to work. Many more million workers too broke or worried to spend money on things so less driving to stores and such.
Re: On top of all unemployment and economy GAS prices are going up
How does a decrease in demand cause an increase in price?
