Unemployment in Michigan ????

I do not know how the Unemployment system in Michigan works and I have a few questions about my situation. I am a Pet Groomer at a local Pet Salon. I was hired at the end of September after leaving another job because she promised me the same full time at a better hourly rate vs commission. Now that winter has hit, it is dead and I went from 46 hours to 15 this last week...and the next weeks don't look much better. I talked to the owner about this and she said that she could "lay me off", but have me work what the unemployment would allow.
So my questions are if she lays me off tomorrow and I file, when would the benefits come, if its a few weeks can she work me full time so I can pay my bills until they do arrive or will I have to go penniless (with rent coming up in 2 weeks, along with other bills I will not be able to pay at this rate)? And how does working while unemployed work? And how do they figure out how much money I will get for unemployment.
I have looked at the unemployment website but I need a non text book explanation.
