I hope the lawmakers in Michigan do something about this quickly.

Actually, they have to pass legislation by March 24th to avoid the cutoff. If nothing is done, Michigan residents will lose their benefits on April 2nd:

I just heard about this today and I am really scared. I will be cut off 6 weeks early with no job prospect in sight. I am praying they do something.

Re: Michigan's Unemployed Face Early Cut-Off of Unemployment Insurance
Oh thank God, I read online that EB benefits for Michigan were being cut off by April 2, 2011 and I thought shoot, they are hurting, the unemployment rate is so high (11.1%). How could this be, I guess many of the states will need to enact a 3 year-look back as to prevent being below the 110 threshold.
Very glad it will be taken up by the state as it is free Federal money, and it just doesn't make sense not to take it at 11.1% unemployment. Man, I would have liked to see that riot, but I know it will be okay. Happy ending after the law passes.

Dazed, that's correct. If nothing is done by March 24th, unemployed in Michigan will see their benefits cut off on April 2nd. They are going to need to address this by next week if the unemployed want to continue receiving their Federal unemployment extensions.
