Unemployment and Government shutdown Oct 2013
Will EUC checks be issued if there is a Government shutdown next week?

Re: Unemployment and Government shutdown Oct 2013
It isn't really clear. The only thing that has been confirmed is that current Social Security recipients will NOT be affected. It's questionable if New retirees will be processed. Another certainty is that the US military will NOT be paid, they will issue IOUs. That fact makes continuing EUC highly doubtful, but who knows. The government's priorities are warped!

Re: Unemployment and Government shutdown Oct 2013
It is not supposed to affect unemployment benefits but getting someone on the phone maybe. This shutdown just adds more stress to the nation since non essential employees are being furloughed or not getting paid. Soldiers over in Afghan and Iraq will have a delay in their pay as well as many others. But the congress people, well they're salaries will still be sent on time. And this is going to put more stress on an already stressed out economy.

And if the people in congress get pissed off enough, they may even grant themselves a 40% raise, and laugh while they're doing it!
