Re: Government Shutdown ????
Gail, there is nothing to be concerned about. The CR Budget that is currently being discussed in Congress and trying to get voted upon, that some are threatening could end up leading to a government shutdown, will not affect current unemployment recipients. This just pertains to "Federal" government agencies and workers, not City or State government.
Unemployment & Federal Unemployment extensions will not be affected by the shutdown. The reason is that unemployment extensions are issued by state government, not by Federal government, and each state in North America is currently already taken care of because this was attached to the "Tax Bill" that was passed and signed into law back in December 2010.
The current CR, or Continuing Resolution deals with the current 2011 operating budget for the U.S. Government, or Federal Government.
I repeat, the government shutdown, if it happens, will not affect unemployment benefits or unemployment extensions via Tier 1-4 or EB.

Not at all. The Fed EUC may be Federally funded but those are already paid for through that tax bill. This budget battle over the CR is an altogether different spending bill that is separate from the Tax Bill, which is also a spending bill.
The CR that they're fighting over is to fund the Federal government and the services that they provide. It won't affect the unemployment benefits in the least. The reason is because the states themselves send out the unemployment checks.
If the Federal government was the agency sending out unemployment benefit checks, then it would be a different story. But, in this case, unemployment benefits will not be disrupted in the least.
