This week Job Hunting

First topic message reminder :

Seemed to be a popular thread in the last UFF so I think we should continue it here.

Applied for three jobs this week including old company see vent, and have not heard from anyone of them.

I went on my first interview in a year 3 weeks ago, called back for a second only to receive an email today saying they chose a candidate whose "current responsibilities more closely align to that of the position and our industry" current = employed.

My interveiw went well. But I don't plan on hearing from them, if I do, it'll be what they told you, we've decided to go with someone else.

I used to work in a bank and this is the job that i interviewed for. I decided, I applied for a teller position. During the course of the interview she asked me if I would be interested in a customer service poistion, thats on the floor, opening accounts and its more money. I said sure. Then she told me tada, we're early in the interviewing process and we'll get back to you in around three weeks. Which means i didn't get job. I wish she told me right there and then, instead of making me wait three weeks to hear you didn't get the job. LOL

Back into the applying for jobs with no reply routine, even when I have the experience in spades. Glad I still have my part-time Caregiver position, however that isn't enough to keep the bills paid.

My 18 year old niece and my 16 year old nephew both got jobs. I cannot find one.

They think I'm being lazy because they apply for a job, have an interview and get hired within a few days.

3.5 years of UE and who will hire me?

I found this site and used to check in several times a day EVERY day and it had been so supportive and a place to vent with people who understood what i was going through. But after a couple of years, few interviews and no offers, I got burned out and retreated from the site. I had to take a mental & emotional break and refocus my energies. I enrolled in school and much to my shock did very well with a 3.9 GPA. School made me feel useful and productive again. I admit that I was less focused on the seemingly fruitless job hunt but after receiving my last paycheck in late 2008, breaking my toe, being humiliated applying for Medicaid and receiving my last unemployment check in 2010 I FINALLY got a temporary position. Yes it sucks, doesn't pay much and only lasts till end of year BUT its a paycheck. There is some glimmer of hope out there so I want to wish everyone who is still trying (and I know you are) that something will come through eventually even if it's not what you want or what you're capable of doing. It's been almost FOUR years for me. Without the support of close and generous friends and this site, I wouldn't have made it even this far.

The job market has sucked the last couple of months that is why not posts in here. And like Nfpexec, I felt my mind was going blah and I to have enrolled in school that is keeping me going.

I would like members to use this thread to share any possible job prospects they have at the moment.
It would also be great to get any feedback from members that may help the soon to be interviewee as well as any job search tactics that have been working.

I will start out.
Just little history here. I was a 99er on May of 2011. I finally landed a Job making 60% less than I was used to and in a completely different field. I took this job knowing it was a 1099 job. I recently got laid off and do not qualify for unemployment.
During this month I did what I had to do to survive with no income. I did some painting jobs and other handy man jobs to put gas in car etc.
Last week proved to be a good week so to speak.
I had a second interview with a company as well as a phone interview with another company.
Today I had an interview again with one of the companies and it's a great job and in my field.

I hope to hear more stories that are promising.
