Are the workers mortgage/rent, utility, insurance and auto payments also proportionately cut? Otherwise, they have been asked to bear an unfair burden. Find the people responsible for this fiscal mess, even if they are no longer in those jobs, so that they can be prosecuted and their assets taken away and put in the city coffers. Elected officials must be shown that they will be held responsible for their irresponsibility while in office.

And we have to show them. This article just disturbed me so much, to your point, thank you for 20 years of service and oh by the way, you are back to making what you made when you started. But, please don't be late with your mortgage!!! It's disgusting...
