I finally have a full-time job
i have a full-time job starting Monday, a good job. I will have health insurance in a few months. I found out yesterday and tonight it is finally setting in. I feel like it is a dream and i seriously think I need to call to confirm that this is real.
I am excited, and it looks like a good group of people. The functions of the job are similar to prior experience, however there is a big difference in that it is a non-profit etc. But, it is a good... no... a great job for me.
The pay is not great, but it is not just pay that I need. I need to at least have something to count on. I will survive.
I must admit, insecurities and fear is running high, it has been a long haul with alot of hurt. And, I still have such concern for those who are still searching for work.
I want to ask for good thoughts and prayers for me, and yes I do need them.. But, I admit I do feel it is selfish of me to ask when I know so many are in need an opportunity. I just want to do a great job and be productive.
Thanks for listening...

Re: I finally have a full-time job
Fabulous news J!!!
I wish you the best. Shake the insecurity and bring back your confidence. Enjoy the knowledge that you won't have to struggle as you have.
We'll all find our place eventually. I'm so happy for you!

Re: I finally have a full-time job
Thank you all... and I will accept all the support as I want this to be great.
I have not had a full-time job with benefits since March 2009. I kept thinking things would happen for so long, and it has. I hope this might be of some support to others.
I will keep thinking about all those struggling with unemployment, underemployment, and the tense work environments and uncertainty some have to deal with. I believe if we all keep wishing well and for good things for all it does make a difference.

Great news, wausauguy. Concentrate on getting your life and finances squared away. Remember what you learned while unemployed. Be mindful and wise. You'll do fine.

Re: I finally have a full-time job
Superstevies, I welcome those prayers. I admit mostly I am thinking about me me me, and wanting this to work out, and admit the pay is nowhere near allowing for extra money. But, I do also feel for everyone who has been looking to land a job.
Injeun Yes, "getting my life" in order is something I have to face. Being unemployed has not been the "vacation" or "time to get things in order." In fact for a number of reasons I have some challenges to face, not just with the new job.
My shortcomings etc has put me in some pretty disordered situations. But, on the other hand, I did keep myself going places, between volunteer work, or just spending time with some people, and even spending some time just being alive and going for a walk and taking my time. So, even though my house is a mess, I have kept myself living and even while I was feeling so low I nudged myself to keep going. I can get through things, and now I believe there is a reason to keep going and that things do happen for the good.
I think being long-term unemployed has changed me. It definitely has made me feel less trusting and less confident. And, I will also be always compaaaionate to anyone unemployed, underemployed or stressed in their position.
I hope that somehow the people who can make a difference, whether the politician, the ceo's, the hiring managers will somehow help, but maybe it is us who has to somehow be the catalyst and get things started in the right direction. I want tell people, hire qualified unemployed, and even hire those who need experience but have qualities that could be utililtized. And always, be kinder and more understanding.
I know there will always be some who are unemployed. But, there is no reason for the great suffering that continues. There is more than enough money and resources fo all of us to live a reasonably abundant life. If we believe that and somehow promote that way of thinking and living, we can make it the reality we experience.

Re: I finally have a full-time job
Things are going fine on the job. I am where I should be, at least I think so.
I have a few things I am dealing with though, still fighting some fatigue and sleep issues.
I am so happy to have a place to go in the morning. It makes having to be woke up by an alarm worth it.
I still think about all those looking for work, and I do pray for everyone.

Re: I finally have a full-time job
Wausauguy, CONGRATULATIONS!!
In your post above you said that being unemployed changed you (HOW could it not)...but I noticed you said it made you less confident. NO! I want it to make you feel MORE confident! YOU MADE IT THROUGH! You toughed it out, you did what you had to do, you didn't give up! AND, you stayed connected and have been here to help others all the while suffering yourself.
You should feel proud. You should take note of your own courage and fortitude.
I am proud of you and so happy for you. Continued blessings to you.
