The Long Haul For The Long-Term Unemployed: 99ers Face A Myriad Of Challenges In Their Fight For Full-Time Employment
Hopes and prayers seem to be fading among many of the long term unemployed, however, according to a series of studies of those whom the current economic crisis has trapped in long-term joblessness by The John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University. Their research found that as the crisis took hold, once jobless workers passed the six-month threshold of joblessness, their prospects for finding any work at all diminished sharply and, as their rejected applications for work piled up and their resources dwindled, their spirits and sense of being connected to the larger society.

The only way to get to the eggheads in Washington to listen is to get in their faces in person. Those bastards have turned a blind eye because they have no idea of what to do.

I think the truth is more terrible than that. They turn a blind eye because they can.

I think the truth is they want to continue to be the world leaders/police and do not want to give up any money to their own, else they would not be able to buy more war machines. The G10 comprise a little less than 50% of all military spending the US comprise (is that a word, I am so tired) the other 50%, that should tell everyone something. Our government is starting to sounds like some of those dictators that will be taking a hike soon, if they have not already. We really should give ours a push out the door and soon. Dazed

Yeah, it's amazing how they never run out of money for killing people and blowing crap up. And amazing how so many people who could be helped by that money cheer it on.

Yep. We are fast killing ourselves as a Nation. Libya, Iran, Iraq...whoever you care to name, is NOT the imminent threat. We have done a 'dandy' job of it to ourselves so far. Yet we continue to spend Billions engaging this Country in conflicts with these Countries.

It's 2pm, wife at work, kids at school, and i'm here unemployed. just depressed and wanted to chat with people in similar situations. i don't know whether i'm long-term or short-term unemployed because i was layoff 2+ years ago and took up some studies. just got my diploma two months back and started looking for jobs again. So, am i short or long-term unemployed? Will start with that question and introduce a little more about my conditions. hope to hear from you and perhaps hear your story too. take care...

short term long term.. Not sure there is much that is different.. except maybe a better chance of finding work when you are "Short Term" less then 6 months after that... good luck and if you are over 50.. out to pasture for you...
