I don't know what to expect...

My unemployment ran out in May. At the end of August I got a job through a temp agency and just found out that this Friday before Christmas is going to be my last day. So far the agency has nothing for me so can I file for unemployment again? And will I qualify after working 18 weeks, full time? Can I or should I reopen the claim I had before, or do I open a new one? If I open a new one will I even get paid anything for only having earned wages for 18 weeks for this year?

which state?
here in Ohio you need 26 weeks work for "full" benifits....but get pro-rated ones startoing at 20 weeks i believe...(about 80 percent of number of weeks, or so then more if its 20,21,22,23....and so on)

I'm in Pennsylvania.
Their website says that 18 or more weeks is required to qualify for full benefits. Or at least for 26 weeks of benefits. I just don't know if the 18 weeks I worked are included in their calculation to determine eligibility. I don't file until January, so I guess all the weeks I worked will be counted towards my eligibility. August through December. But I can't plan ahead on guesses.

if you made the minimum weeks of work cutoff, then you should be ok...
you might have to go through some bs with the Unemployment people
(as they need records)...
I have a friend who was in a similar situation in ohio, he just made the minimum cutoff by a week or two, but it was two different jobs and there was a problem of having verification with the UI people (or maybe they cant count, who knows?) but it got straightened out...
if i were you i would be gathering paycheck stubbs or some proof just in case.....

Lol. I have every single pay stub. I remember if you want things to be done right and as fast as possible you have to do half their job for them.

Here in RI, if you still have an open claim when you become unemployed again, they will put you back on that. When the benefits (or ue extension program) run out, they will calculate a new claim. Based on your earnings for the period, your new benefit rate may be lower.

Its for a new claim, i believe....i have something like 8-9 weeks of work accumulated here... a ninety day plus job would be helpfull to myself (of course a real fulltime job is the goal)...but any and all litlle scraps thrown my way are good....
