US Senate reaches tentative payroll tax cut deal-aides

(Reuters) - Democratic and Republican negotiators in the U.S. Senate on Friday agreed to extend a payroll tax cut and jobless benefits for two months, congressional aides said.

The deal, which still would have to be approved by the full Senate and House of Representatives, also includes a provision aimed at speeding up U.S. approval of a controversial oil pipeline project from Canada to the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, the aides said.

same old thing....The dems are hoping that the more and more press coverage the worse and worse the republicans look....same thing as last year...only THIS time there is a presidential race added to the mix.....

If you have bothered to listen to the republican pres debates at all (i know its hard to)...i am seriously wondering at what point believing what the republican base seems to accept as "truths"...crosses over the line of "delusional reality" and into the domain of being certifiably mentaly ill...i am only half kidding as the foriegn policy stance of the big R party seems to be a throwback to all the neocon hacks that are still on somebodies payroll and completely out-of-step with the rest of the country...

I hear ya, elvis. Just as our troops have come home from the longest war in our nation's history, they can't wait to get us into another one...now. I swear I don't understand what happened to them that makes them this way.
