Bill To Help Long-Term Jobless Overshadowed By Bill That Could Cut Benefits

But the bill would cost roughly $16 billion, which makes it a non-starter for Republicans. Lee and Camp at one point broke with Democratic doctrine and said they'd be willing to offset the cost with budget cuts, but they have not followed through with any proposed cuts.
THEY NEED TO FIND WAY TO PAY FOR IT. I say take a month of WAR off!

IMHO, paying for it now IS NOT and option behind the scenes anymore. They are HARDCORE on dissolving every and ALL social programs now and the people be damned. After seeing what thay say and do ON EVERYTHING it's as clear as crystal they DO NOT CARE and want us to die off. Don't beleive them, DON'T trust them.

Re: Bill To Help Long-Term Jobless Overshadowed By Bill That Could Cut Benefits
The bill to cut benefits in the House is HR 1745, introduced on May 5 by Rep. David Camp. There is a "closed" hearing on it in the House Ways & Means Committee, scheduled by Chairman David Camp on Wed., May 11.
They moved very quickly on this one! What a coincidence!
To add insult to injury, our dear friend Orrin Hatch, who said we were all lazy drug-addicts, introduced the same legislation in the Senate, S. 904, and hour or two after Camp's bill was entered in the House. Hatch's bill is in the Senate Finance Committee and currently being scored by the CBO.
Now good ole Orrin, who loves us dearly, worked with Camp on this bicameral legislation - guess what it includes? Drug testing and requiring anyone who did not receive their high school diploma to get their GED before entering into any of the mandatory training programs, which will be paid for with tier money.
I really hope everyone knows what this means. Even if you are on your first 26 weeks, EUC08 (Tiers 1 - 4) most likely will not be paid to you.
The text for HR 1745 is in the "Pending Legislation" forum here in the Ways & Means Committee thread.
When Boehner and Cantor met with Lee a few weeks ago, they knew Camp & Hatch's legislation was pending - yet they told her to work with the Ways & Means Committee to find a way to fund HR 589.
As Rep. Barbara Lee said today, these bills will "gut" the benefits for the long-term unemployed, giving states the money for tiers 1 - 4 rather than the individual.

Of course. They plan to SNEAK this through without media eyeballing them. Just like an RThug 'SECRET" Closed Door meetings with no oversight. Not surprised

This is a complete smack in the face for the unemployed. 589 sits idle and these bills get mainlined...
