I just saw #occupybeantown and #occupyscotland.

“I have no fear of bringing it back to our city,” said Terry, who started a Facebook page called Occupy Boston.

“The goal is to change the system and make it a real Democracy. Even if we are getting our asses kicked by the cops we will remain non-violent,” he said.

Terry said the next move is to organize a general assembly, for “all of us to come together and begin this movement.”

Wall Street protests to come to Boston

The worries of Wall Street are reaching Boston.

Last weekend activists who were angry with economic policies got into it with police in New York City. On Tuesday night a similar event was held in the Hub, but with a much different outcome.

Tuesday was just day one for Occupy Boston -- a group that wants to bring Wall Street protests to the streets of Boston.

A planning meeting was held on Tuesday night and some organizers were fired up.

“This is part of a global movement of resistance,” yelled one organizer to cheers and clapping from a crowd of nearly 200 on the Boston Common.

While the Wall Street occupation is growing, it needs an all-out commitment from everyone who cheered the Egyptians in Tahrir Square, said “We are all Wisconsin,” and stood in solidarity with the Greeks and Spaniards. This is a movement for anyone who lacks a job, housing or healthcare, or thinks they have no future.

Our system is broken at every level. More than 25 million Americans are unemployed. More than 50 million live without health insurance. And perhaps 100 million Americans are mired in poverty, using realistic measures. Yet the fat cats continue to get tax breaks and reap billions while politicians compete to turn the austerity screws on all of us.

For too long our minds have been chained by fear, by division, by impotence. The one thing the elite fear most is a great awakening. That day is here. Together we can seize it.
