Six Reasons Why Both Political Parties Are "Econitwits"
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jane-white/six-reasons-why-both-poli_b_973554.html?ir=BusinessHow are we going to get unemployed Americans back to work? The GOP wants to lower taxes and decrease regulation because it thinks we're stifling innovation. The Dems want to spend tax dollars on infrastructure and other public works projects.
The Republican strategy is absurd because if corporations are hurting, why the hell are they sitting on $2 trillion? The Dems are in denial because stimulus plans aimed at boosting blue collar jobs are not only temporary but they do nothing to remedy the outsourcing of blue AND white collar jobs.
Democrats of all collars need to get off their collective butts and work together to save the economy. The future of the country is at stake.

Both sides we need to vote them all out and bring in new blood none of them have a clue on either side.
I actually think that it's the partisans that are the real problem, the idiots that actually believe their side is better or smarter. We need to get rid of them so the rest of us can live, they are the real problem

I would normally agree with you but the dems are very centrist, too much so in my opinion. The republicans won't move at all. Their plan to wreck the country on Obama's watch has worked so far and I can't see them moving off of it.

Re: Six Reasons Why Both Political Parties Are "Econitwits"
They did vote out a bunch of them--and replaced them with the moronic doucheTea bagPartiers, who think it's a joke to cripple the government and crash the economy. Electing people who don't even understand how things work is not the answer.
And it's not that the Republicans won't move, lendme--they keep moving farther and farther to the right, and the Democrats keep following them. But I know you know that.

It's tough WHEN they live by a "SCORCHED" earth policy. And we are that scorched earth. And whats worst underneath it all they are a bunch of racists at the core. One of the reasons of the unyielding HATE for Obama and they will BURN us all to the ground to defeat him.

I actually have to agree with Munster on this one, in the right leaning circle of friends the new spin on Obama is he's a product of "Affirmative Action" that the Dems used to get elected but only proves that intellectually candidates that came up using that system are unintelligent and unable to succeed unless consistently given passes...it proves that the system dumbs them down.

But, but, but...how on earth, then, did they explain Bush to themselves?
Do they really think that Obama's stupid? Really?

I realize that Tristen isn't expressing his personal opinion necessarily but this is absurd. Only someone who was an idiot would be able to have this opinion, although I do recognize the tendency among Americans to call someone unintelligent if they don't agree with the person.
Obama's problem is that he is TOO smart. He goes over the heads of most people. He speaks in abstracts that his normal circle of friends would understand but the average American doesn't.
He talks about infrastructure when he should be pointing at a falling bridge and saying "see that? Don't you think we should spend money to fix it?". These are things that right leaning people complain about on a daily basis but they won't vote for a democrat because they don't agree with their policies.
This is why when you see polls conducted the vast majority of people agree with democratic policies and principles as long as they don't know which political party they came from.
If Obama loses in 2012 this is how it will happen. He will continue speaking over the average person's head and no one will buy it.

Re: Six Reasons Why Both Political Parties Are "Econitwits"
I like Obama he's doing what a President should and those are not my words that is neocon spin. I agree with Lendme and like Bill Maher said he needs to point to the bridge that's broken then point to the guy that is going to fix it...spell it out in crayon. The reason it needs to be like that is that Progressive public relation operatives are terrible at press conferences and photo ops. They concern themselves with more image then the point of the message.

Re: Six Reasons Why Both Political Parties Are "Econitwits"
OK, maybe that theory's true for a certain percentage of people, but I've met a lot of people who are not stupid, yet still buy into the right-wing BS. I have to believe that it's more along these lines: liberal/conservative brains
I'm reminded of a time a few years ago when I was talking with some co-workers who were saying "that affirmative action stuff is just wrong...a white guy just doesn't stand a chance getting hired", to which I replied, "do you see any minorities working here?" (a company of about 50) They admitted that there were none. They paused for about 5 seconds, and then continued, "yeah, but that affirmative action is just wrong!"
These were engineering types, presumably capable of some kind of critical thought, yet immune to facts and logic. That's what frustrates me so...when you throw reality at them, it has no effect.
Anyway, I guess my point is, I think it comes from somewhere that's emotional, not intellectual. It's not the stupid, it's the scared. And I don't know how you fix that.

Reason is RACISM is alive and well and people just conceal their bigotry better these days using liberalism as a crutch and a shield to justify their hatred deep down. If they use Archie Bunker slurs outright....THEY are crucified for it. But hiding it behind affirmative action, welfare, unemployment etc. Is the NEW bigotry...yet nobody sees this yet.

I'm not liking where this thread is headed. This is the 21st century. Let's try REAL hard not to bring this shitt forward and maybe it will go away in time, like a foul odor.
I am realistic. We have a ways to go. But don't start on President Obama and his color and why he is where he is. That's foul talk.
Thanks.

Re: Six Reasons Why Both Political Parties Are "Econitwits"
People just believe what they want to regardless of facts or logic.
I could prove to someone that affirmative action is still needed but they would still be against it because they want to be.
It's like people complaining about having a black history month or a black caucus on congress.
The people that ask that are whiter than I am for sure.
Why do we need black history month? Because all 11 other months are white history months.
Black history month is also the shortest month of the year, coincidence?

Re: Six Reasons Why Both Political Parties Are "Econitwits"
That's always the thing I think of first too--and still think that it's a bigger piece of it than anything else. But it's not the essence of what it is. If it were, it couldn't explain all the other "isms" so neatly. No, I think there's something that all of those come from, and that's the fear I was talking about. I could talk more about where that fear comes from, but now there's hot, buttered popcorn, and that always wins, so goodbye for now!

Sorry but I see it ALOT. I know plenty of GOPers, they do not know my position as I do not advertise it. BUT every and I mean EVERY conversation from these people ends with that "GDN" is killing this country. And yes.... these are white, middle class with an average age of 35-58. And NO they DO not speak this around minorities. They also slur Mexicans etc. Just read any comments page out there and THEY are out there. It's not his beliefs, it's his color. They just won't say it in mixed company. This is the CORE of the hate out there, they just use the BS of liberalism to disguise it. From my observations so far, I believe it to be true. It is foul and it's whats really killing us as a nation. It's a cancer but no one wants to call it that out of fear of ridicule of being called a bigot. My Grandfather was half Cherokee. As a boy his family was burned out of his home by the KKK. But growing up he was the BIGGEST racist I knew. He hated blacks, Asians, Mexicans, Jews you name it. He looked white but downplayed his Cherokee linage unless it could be used in a positive manner. I always found this strange. A victim of the KKK but spouted the same hate. Obama is black living in a White House and THAT deep down pisses off SO many deep inside. The GOPs hatred is beyond measure in the 21st century. Nothing good to help this country can move forward as long as this UNSPOKEN hate keeps everything at bay. That's why GOP's are so rabid, their hate (and greed) is rooted too deep. Just look at the last debate with the jeers against that Gay solider.

yeah that was just disgusting. How could anyone with a moral compass boo a returning soldier from the war regardless of his sexual orientation.
They astound me everyday.

Re: Six Reasons Why Both Political Parties Are "Econitwits"
Look, I agree with you, it is the racism. But it's also the sexism, and the homophobia, as you just pointed out, and a whole bunch of other things. I think that the racism is probably the most virulent, but what I was trying to say before is that they all are just different manifestations of the same old lizard-brain fear.
And do you really believe that if Hillary had won, they wouldn't be pulling the same odious crap with her? I do. And for that matter, don't you remember Bill Clinton's years in office? The rape and murder accusations? Impeachment? These people have been very sick for a very long time. But I guess that we expected them to get somewhat better by now, not worse.
