GOP Tea Party Debate: Audience Cheers, Says Society Should Let Uninsured Patient Die
First topic message reminder :
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/12/tea-party-debate-health-care_n_959354.htmlA bit of a startling moment happened near the end of Monday night's CNN debate when a hypothetical question was posed to Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas).
What do you tell a guy who is sick, goes into a coma and doesn't have health insurance? Who pays for his coverage? "Are you saying society should just let him die?" Wolf Blitzer asked.
"Yeah!" several members of the crowd yelled out.

Re: GOP Tea Party Debate: Audience Cheers, Says Society Should Let Uninsured Patient Die
After Paul first addressed the question the entire audience cheered Pauls lucid and candid intellegent response. Then Blitzer asked, but should he be left to die? One voice in the audience said YEAH. The man could have meant yeah as in answer the question. Or he could have meant sarcastically, yeah right let him die. Or he could have meant it to encourage Paul to stay the course and answer the question. At any rate, Paul then answered the question and said no, that duty falls to family churchs and charities. Again the crowd cheered again. To overlook all this and look to affix something negative is nothing more than partisan bs, looking for traction.

LOL, Yeah I'm sure that's what the guy shouting "yeah" meant. He meant "yeah Ron, answer the question".
It's amazing how we delude ourselves theses days.
So there is apparently this right wing talk so host named Joe Lewis. He calls himself Mr. Right.
Anyway, I caught his show tonight and he was talking about how in America we are too giving. He says that his tax dollars shouldn't have to contribute to fema's hurricane relief effort. He says that it's not selfish to be self centered and there is nothing wrong with it. It's not noble to sacrifice for someone else.
How can anyone deny that we are a country ruled by absolute greed.

Who cares if it's noble? It's just the right thing to do! Does he think he's going to taunt people out of their ideals? Not to mention, sacrifice is a strong word. Is asking for some of your tax dollars to help people in need really that big a sacrifice? Bunch of selfish whiners if you ask me.

That's sort of the point. The tea party explains taxes as a person being forced to help someone else that may or may not deserve it.
They don't mention that if their home were devastated by a disaster that they might benefit from food and shelter paid for by tax money.
At one time in our history people would be happy to pay taxes and be grateful that they weren't in a disaster. Now they just complain because they don't need it. It's absolute greed

And isn't it funny that red states receive more federal money than they pay in, and blue states pay more in, and receive less? This is from 2010, but as far as I know, the bible thumpers' 13-year old daughters are still getting pregnant just as fast now:
The Red State Ripoff
But you know what? You'll never hear me kvetch about paying my income taxes...because when I am, it means:
I'm freakin' working, and making enough to have to pay!

tristen,
I think that there are many ways that the GOP persuades the bottom 90% to vote for them, and few, if any, of these ways have anything to do with bettering the economic status of the embattled middle-class and suffering poor. Do you deny that the GOP quite effectively uses things like guns, gays, abortions, pseudo-patriotism, religion, and even subtle racism to detract from their catering to the top 5-10%?

Maybe you'll have more success than me, but FYI I tried this argument with him already. I already know what he's going to say:
"there's the elitism again........................just because someone votes republican, they're stupid and hypnotized? [insert four thousand things said for nothing but to piss so-called "liberals" off. no line breaks deal with it]. there did you read all that? no????? LOL love the left"
How close was I, tristen?

Sorry, the deer(RON PAUL) was caught in the headlights with a crowd cheering for the car. Nice try though.

Re: GOP Tea Party Debate: Audience Cheers, Says Society Should Let Uninsured Patient Die
Let someone die who doesn't have health insurance, both unemployed and many employed don't have it, there are charities that help with this sort of thing, in lieu of that and if exhausted, I'd just say make the guy comfortable until he meets his or her end. Don't want to wake up if he or she can, with megalomania hospital bill. That would put anyone in their grave.
Is it immoral to cheer for someone's death. During the eve of an execution outside prisons, don't they have tail gating parties for those occasions.
