John Larson Pushes Jobs Super Panel
A top House Democrat is prodding Congress to create a committee that takes on unemployment alongside the super committee focused on the deficit.
House Democratic Caucus Chair John Larson of Connecticut wants to amend the debt ceiling legislation to form a panel tasked with creating a plan to eliminate unemployment by 2021.
“I plan to introduce legislation that would establish a Joint Select Committee on Job Creation that would be tasked, under the exact same terms as the Deficit Committee, with developing a plan to return the nation to full employment by 2021. This would allow the Congress to simultaneously consider both our near-term (high unemployment) and our long-term (growing debt) challenges later this year,” Larson wrote in a letter to colleagues this week. “Just like the Deficit Committee, all options would be on the table. We owe the American people nothing less.”

Re: John Larson Pushes Jobs Super Panel
Hmmm, 2021 huh? That's a lofty goal. I got the perfect slogan, "We want to eliminate unemployment in your lifetime". Where's Larson going to be 10 years from now. Probably retired and held unaccountable when the goal of this "blue ribbon" panel is NOT met. Politicians do this kind of thing all the time. Set goals beyond their term limits so that they don't have to answer to no one when these goals are not met.
Maybe that was a type-o. Maybe it should have read 2012? Millions of people are living on the edge NOW. They can't last another week, let alone another decade! They need jobs NOW, not 10 years from now! How many millions of lives will be destroyed while trying for 10 years to find their next job. Some people will die from old age (or starvation) by then.
This is a perfect example of the kind of lip service the unemployed have been getting for the last couple of years. We may be unemployed, but we're not stupid!
Perhaps Larson is hinting at just how much trouble our economy is in. Perhaps he has his hands on inside info that the rest of us are not privy to. I PRAY THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE!

Re: John Larson Pushes Jobs Super Panel
Perhaps now is the time to build a wall like China has across Mexico. That would easily put a million back to work. It could be made out of all our buildings and roads that need to be torn down and repaired. That could be 5 million or more. Just say the word, right now millions are just waiting for something to do and don't want to starve.
There still time in 2011. Today is too late for many already! Don't call anybody back Obama. We attacked Libya to save lives. We could put a million to work, just moving rocks for the wall. This would save lives in this country.
