Great News! (for me)
I was on the brink of having my car repossessed. I only have 9 payments left. Ford Motor Credit has worked with me a lot and in fact re-wrote my loan to extend it by a year to lower my payments from $456 to $310 a little over two years ago. But being so far behind and according to Missouri law they had to write an order of repossession letter before towing it away. A lot of states are not required to do it.
I live over a mile away from a bus stop and the buses here don't run late. No grocery stores within walking distance...not even a 7-11 store. I called them about my new job and negotiated my heart out. They said due to a an error in the system, the date for my car repossession should have been earlier than 8/16. They were done. I had hit the 60 days past due date and my balance was close to $1,000.
The upshot is, I met one of our state representatives when she was running for office last fall. I had a long conversation with her and voted for her. Even put up her yard sign. I called her a few weeks ago to network and ask if she knew of any resources or jobs available I was unaware of. We became friends over the phone. The other day I called to tell her about my job offer and car situation and she suggested I call the local VFW post and gave me the name of the post commander. Yesterday they paid off my overdue car payments and half of the one due now! They would have paid the whole thing but an online money gram thing limits the amount. They would not take his credit card over the phone.
Last evening I called her to thank her. She was almost as thrilled as I was. She asked if she could she stop by. She came over with a wonderful card and inside was a $25 gift card for a local grocery store (that also sells gas). Can you believe it??!! I can now go buy toilet paper and a few cans of cat food! Unbelievably, she was apologetic about the amount! Missouri state legislators make very little money. More than the gift card, what she wrote in the card moved me to tears and her gesture helped to restore my faith in people and in new friendships.
I've posted a lot in the past couple of days. I'll stop now.

Yes, no car, no job. Especially since my hours are 3:30-Midnight. It would have been the worst! I now have 6.5 payments left. And out of my first check I only need to cover $154 due 7/28. They already know it will be late. They allow a 10 day grace period so I'll have to pay the late fee too. They won't waive it, I already asked.

Don't stop posting, my fiance is behind a payment and I just had her read this. It was helpful.
No I am not making the payment. I have enough to pay for myself.

Re: Great News! (for me)
Getthem, I was able to get Ford to waive a few payments. Someone here over a year ago sent me a PM wanting the phone number to call & he was able to do the same thing. It's worth a try if it's like GMAC credit or Ford Motor credit. They still accrue interest and are tacked on at the end of the loan (but those can be broken into payments too).

Re: Great News! (for me)
Ford has been great to me on my car loan! Get this! I had a 72 mo. loan and 21 more payments at 305.00 per mo. But they extended 6 or 7 payments s far! Not in a row but over the last yr. or so! Said if I make several more payments timely, they may extend more. BTW! I have 0% interest! Now that wonderful for them to do what they have done! They get 0 interest and keep extending. Normally if you extend, you owe the interest for each moth you extend, but at 0 % they collect nothing! great folks! BTW! Nice my son works for them also!!!

Remember Ford DID'NT take a bail out unlike the other two. Ford went it alone and has the decency to work with their customers. I give them a lot of credit. Good for you Mo.

American Honda Finance did it for me as well, but unfortunately, once 99erville set in, I had to turn it back to them. I did have to pay a penalty, but they worked with me on that. Hyundai has a program as well.

Wonderful story. Makes me cry. Just reminds us that there are people behind those government and corporate masks. People who are genuine and will take action. Not so very hard to believe actually.
So please, everyone, your best ammo is your cell. Make it "unlimited" and call call call. You'll soon find humanity.
That's what I found.

X, I appreciate it, but I am not going to ask her to come here. She gets it and we share the same politics.

Re: Great News! (for me)
Wow was reading her bio and I like what I am reading. She only has an Associates Degree and made a good life for herself. A true role model for middle class workers! Wish we had politicians like her here in PA. Heck, not only here, but all over the country.

Yeah, it's clear to me that she's from solid working-class stock. She can get riled up and almost swears like a sailor when it comes to politics.
