  • I want to not be invisible anymore.


  • I want to get up and shower and have somewhere to go.


  • I want to punch the people who talk about the recession being over.


  • I want to not have to choose between toilet paper or dog food.


  • I want to feel like a real person again.


  • I want to BE a real person again.


  • I am sick to death of feeling powerless.


  • I am sick to death of apologizing and being shamed and embarrassed for being one of the long-term unemployed.


  • I am sick to death of people telling me that I “really should see a doctor” when nothing would please me more, except that I can't afford to do so.


  • I am sick to death of explaining to other people that “getting a job at McDonalds” is not as simple as they think.


  • I am sick. And sad. And exhausted. And undone.

That is the thing I feel I speak for most if not every single 99er. All the 99ers want is a job to be able to provide.

They could add this one to the list, last week a friend asked me how I was doing and said “I've forgotten what it's like to feel happy”. Something as simple as feeling happiness or joy is gone.

My husband and I were just talking about that the other day. We miss the old days when we were so happy. We were not rich, but had so much fun and spent alot of time with friends and family. Now we are sad all the time and stressed out about the job situation and not having medical insurance. We stay home most of the time. My parents lived during the Depression and I don't think that they were ever this sad. I miss them even more now because they were always our biggest supporters when things got tough.

I want my life back too.. Not using food stamps while people look at you like you are worthless..

I want to buy a cup of coffee with out guilt
I want to leave my apt without worrying about running into my mgr after living here 17 years...

sorry to say none of us will get our life back where it was. The best we can hope for is to live 30% less than before.

I am not sure I will settle for this... I have had enough of giving and watching the rich get richer and the poor get poorer..

Right now I would gladly settle for 30% less, much better 100% less that I’m dealing with now. Getting my life back now would be just having a job and having a roof over my head. At 53 with my credit shot and no savings there is no way I will ever own a house again, I haven't rented a house or apartment in 30 years but that's my goal now
