I GOT THE JOB!!!
Its at a nursing home for what they call "direct care". Its only 16 hours per week but Ill take it if they'll give it to me!! Its also right up the street from my house. the hours are sat. and sun. 7-3 and every other weekend is 3-11!! I really hope I get it, its what I want to do. Not sure what pay they are offering yet, usually around here its at least 10 an hour for that type of job.
Prayers and good thoughts will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

16 hours, maybe a shift differential, and no transportation fees! People are always calling out, so you probably won't lack for hours. Congratulations! Get your flu shot.

Re: I GOT THE JOB!!!
Good luck! I know that a lot of CNA's are hired for minimal hours, but most of the time can work over 40 if they want due to call outs! You'll get it!! Congrats!

Re: I GOT THE JOB!!!
Thanks!! Im very excited, but at the same time afraid to be.
I remember when I did the same thing years ago there were always extra hours to work. I got a lot of OT hours too which is usually great money! I was a lot younger then, but Im still very active and I dont think I will have a problem with the physical aspects of it. (I hope lol)
The lady on the phone sounded very nice and very casual. Im nervous, but not as nervous as I have been on other interviews. She seemed thrilled to hear that lived in town and that I have experience.

Re: I GOT THE JOB!!!
Im back!! It looked very casual and looked like a nice place to work. The interviewer said she has a few more interviews and will call me for a second interview soon. the second will be the background check and all that fun stuff. Idk, I think it looks promising. She said I am certainly qualified for it.
I stopped in a few other places on the way home and grabbed some applications. I noticed there are a few new small restaurants and stores that opened very recently. Also a new indoor play thingy for kids that just opened, stopped there too.
NOW I just have to wait I guess....I wait the waiting

If they can't see the benefit of hiring a local, experienced, mature, empathetic caregiver, there is something wrong! Good luck.

Re: I GOT THE JOB!!!
Well I had an interview yesterday. In the good old days I wouldn't consider a long commute from Queens to Brooklyn but the good old days are over! I woke up with a throbbing headache and my stomach was doing flip flops. I knew it was anxiety & nerves. Every interview is so important & so much rests on it. I managed to pull myself together & hit the subway. The train was slow & I was running late. As I nervously checked my watch I saw I was late & attempted to send an email to the interviewer. Of course I was underground so it didnt go thru. Fortunately I called as soon as I reached my stop & it was only one block from subway. The man seemed very relaxed & not at all edgy that I was 15 minutes late evn though I apologized. I met with him & his partner. Its a small place, although they've been around for 15 yrs.
I was relaxed & showed that I was extremely knowledgable about the position & nonprofit work. It was mentioned that I had a lot of experience but I tried to spin that to say that I hadn't really worked in this particular aspect but I knew alot about nonprofits having worked as an executive director & could help with business development. I also gave specific examples.
It was pleasant & easy going & while that's nice & it helped to relieve my anxiety, ultimately it will only be considered a good interview if there is an offer. Like I said, big pay cut, no benefits but I would accept & make the most of the opportunity if they let me. I'm just hoping they don't decide that it would be easier to go with a younger less experienced person that they can mold whichever way they want.
