Jobless rate dips; groups fight for HR 589 99er unemployment extension
Unemployment advocates continued their efforts today to convince Congress to pass H.R. 589, the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 2011, which would provide an additional 14 weeks of benefits to the 99ers -- those who have exhausted all available benefits.

In advance of this upcoming meeting, The American 99ers' Union, a coalition of groups that advocate for the unemployed, requested today that members contact Boehner and Cantor again on Monday, April 4th and Tuesday, April 5th, to urge them to pass the legislation.
