Average Length of Unemployment Reaches High
You might be scratching your head right now. Why is the typical spell of unemployment getting longer, even though companies are finally adding jobs?
A few factors are probably responsible.
The first thing to consider is that there is some inertia to unemployment, for a whole host of complicated reasons like prejudice against idle workers. People who have been out of work for a year are much less likely to find a job in the coming month than people who have been out of work for just a month.

Until companies stop discriminating against those who have lost their jobs I can only see it to continue to climb.
