That is great news!! I dont know about anyone else, but I think think this is a GIANT STEP toward getting the support we need for HR 589. One of the co sponsors of that bill is a republican.

I had no idea that it could be done at a state level...How does that work? Does anyone know? Could all states approach it this way if they wanted to? it must depend on the states unemployment fund right? Boy I am full of today! lol

I think all states received it and it was up to them how to use it. RI has allocated funds for it but nothing has been done with it yet. Some states used it for retraining and education. It was up to the Governors and State assemblies how to disburse it.

If that is the case, then we are dead in the water here in Florida (12% unemployed, really more). I believe our new Gov. would not add weeks. I would be suprised if he did. Great for the states that can

I would say this is a good sign, even though it is at state level. At least we know that not all republicans are against helping the long term unemployed.
