How Does EDD Get Wage Info?

What happens when an employee has been laid off in terms of reporting wages? Does the employer report these wages directly to the EDD? How does this work? Thanks!
Seems that my former employer is withholding this information from the EDD. Can't the EDD get this information through one's social security number?

As far as I understand employers have a FEIN (for federal) and a state ID number all taxes , wages and such are paid on a quarterly basis.
This information is for the IRS, and state taxes, the unemployment people access these accounts.

Oh, okay! So maybe because I filed right at the start of the new quarter there has simply been a delay in the EDD getting the report rather than my former employer being strange? Thank you!

Employers have 30 days after the end of each quarter to report employee earnings and pay the quarterly ue tax. It is usually 6-8 weeks for state unemployment offices to record them.

Thanks so much for the information! I was totally confused and more than a little baffled as to why the EDD was claiming that they hadn't gotten a record of my wages after I was laid off...
