Great story. This needs to be told and people need to become aware of what's going on. HR and other recruitment entities are totally out of control, and there is nothing keeping them in check! Perhaps if enough people file complaints with their state's Attorney General's office, someone might look into the unethical practices that they have been getting away with for the past several years, including age discrimination, among other things. At least it would be a start, and it won't cost you a dime.

I still think a lot of people still think that what is happening to us won't happen to them.

I agree need a break. I also think that employers need to be held accountable for not hiring the long term unemployed. I don't know how to hold them accountable but it needs to be done. Either with penalities or some kind of monetary action. I'm 51 and have been looking way to long for another job. At this rate I will never be able to retire let alone survive much longer!!!!!

And another point is, through no fault of their own, people in their 40's and 50's who have been unemployed for years now have outdated skills because there was no jobs for them. Who's going to hire them now?

The country owes it to these people to allow them to update their skills and get them back to work in their former occupations, and information about these training programs needs to be easily available and accessable to anyone who wants to find work, maybe through outreach programs or in-house training programs set up by employers.

Millions of people should not have to be punished because they were victomized by a bad economy!
