Mom's on 1st unemployment extention
I'm looking for work like crazy. She is looking for work too, but I'm the one that needs a job - not my mom! I'm 37 and I have twice as much energy as my mom.
My mom is on unemployment, she is on her 1st extension. Her first extension started around April/May 2012. She went on-call in October 2011. So, her claim ENDS October 6th 2012. But she has about $1,200 more left on her claim. That will take her at least 6 more weeks, or it will take her to Nov 1st when her current 1st extension funds will run out. What I am saying is that her claim will END before she exhausts all of her funds on this 1st extension!
So, what will happen when October 6th comes when her claim ends? (She filed in Oct 2011 so each claim only lasts 1 year). Will my mom need to fill out another claim form online? Or will the EDD just renew her claim automatically? (We live in California). I need to go on to the EDD website and I know that If I ask a question on there . . .they will email me or my mom back with a pre-generated answer that does not really tell me and my mom what we need to know.
Can someone please explain this is lay mans terms so I can understand it. Thank you much. Sandra

sounds like BYE or Benefit Year End date.......in Ohio it was automatic with NO delay in payments.....
Maybe someone from Cal will post here with EXACT explanation....
with UE so high you must still qualify for another extension before the end of the calendar year (dec 2012)

It's a different processes for each state. In RI, we have to file a new claim and put in another week waiting period. It is the BYE as Elvis said. CA is still eligible for all the federal tiers, however the program ends In Dec. You cannot file for anther tier after that date. You finish up the tier you are on, and that's it. I believe for the states that still have EB, that ends immediately, regardless of the amount left on your claim.

This sounds so very depressing! BYE? Wow. I just love how Benefit Year End makes the word BYE. Or BYED. Makes it sound sooooooooooooo final.
