Strange things in my Moms neighborhood.
What would cause a LOT of dead trees in my Moms neighborhood. looking around I can see a LOT of trees with brown leaves and Im assuming they are dead. These trees were not dead last year.
Something strange is going on here. Is anyone else experiencing a similiar phenomenon in their area??
This is more than a coincidence, I could see one or two here and there but its like 30% seem dead.

TY for the info however I am in Massachusetts though.. Its not normal to have this many dead trees in her neighborhood at all. I only noticed this today seeing as there is a dead one in her yard and one in the neighbors yard. After scanning the skies I noticed many more dead ones.

Well this report is from 2009. I didn't look hard enough. Might be something newer available.

We had bark beetles infest all the forests in Southern California a few years back. That, coupled with four years of drought, is why we burned so spectacularly in October 2007.

Yes, we are in this area. Are there white catipillar nests or a black tar-like substance on some of the limbs? It is gypsy moths. I've tried burning the nests to save the trees, but the branches they were on die. I have several in my back yard. You aren't too far away from me so it is probably the same thing.

BLack tar like substance on a tree thats dead across the street starting from base and extending upward. crap, I remember this as a kid now. They are killing all the trees around here then.
Re: Strange things in my Moms neighborhood.
If we asked congress to pass a bill to save these trees, by the time they passed it new trees would have already grown and the bill would no longer be needed.

Re: Strange things in my Moms neighborhood.
28 years ago Republican door knockers came to my house asking for me to register Republican, I said if you have the city plan a tree in front of my house I'll do it. 12 years later I am driving down my street and I see this tree planted along the curb. I call my 2 brothers and 1 sister, and a few other people I knew to see if they planted this tree outside my house. I just could not figure it out. Everybody said "no". Finally I recalled my conversation with the Republicans. It was the Republicans, 12 years to get a tree and I never switched to Republican anyway. Two years ago a woman tripped on my sidewalk because the tree made the pavement slightly uneven, she sued me and the city for $800,000 for a broken arm. She got $80,000 from my insurance company, I hate people who sue at outrageous amounts, my gosh $800,000 for a fracture in her arm. When I saw her I could have slapped her face. See what happens when you deal with Republicans. haha, Dazed

Do you read Steven King? What's happening is a supernatural phenomenon called "Treeiside"! It's when trees kill themselves because they're not being used to print pay checks.
