self employed or not???
I had a full time job that recently ended and am looking at applying for unemployment. I also have a small business that earns me a little money. I don't really consider myself "self employed" though. All the income is affiliate website income from work I did years ago that still trickles in. I don't do any work other than deposit a check once a month and file some taxes.
Does anyone have this same situation? I was looking at the "self employment" form and none of the questions make any sense in my situation since I don't actively do anything for the income. Will this residual income count against my unemployment?

Re: self employed or not???
first welcome to the forum....
you say it is work done before, so its like a dividend or something..
when you do 1099 work you dont have to file anything on less than $600
It looks like its a "paperwork" issue and all depends on how you have incorporated or whatever...
But if its not WORK that you currently do.....the key words on all the applications always pertain to work being done now...

This is ordinary income and you need to report it as such quarterly as independent income, unless you are incorporated - which essentially you still need to report this income.
It's not "interest" for services rendered in the past.
