Can you appeal a 2009 ca unemployment extension balance when you have new wages
Hello! I worked part time in 2009 was laid off I drew unemployment & received an extension of $50 a week. I found a really good job Ive been working for almost three years but was recently laid off. I started receiving my unemployment benefits of $450 but when it was time for an extension I had an old balance that only gives me $50 a week. Its not enough to even go out & look for a job I'm not sure which of my bills to pay because I don't have enough money to pay anything or do anything. Unemployment said the balance does not expire until Dec 2012. Is there anything that I can do? Does anyone have the same problem can this be appealed.?

Kandii, so sorry you find yourself in this situation. I don't know what state you are in so it's hard to answer your question. In certain states, if you have a balance left on an old claim, that has to be closed first. I would contact in person your UC Service Center and explain the situation. I believe you have the right to appeal, I just don't know all the legalities. Please contact them. It's too important not to.
