Re: infrastructure jobs bill
Fed money isn't flowing to the States as it had before. Taxes go a long way to highways and road maintenance and NO ONE will take that on, so people aren't working, roads are a mess and we fund issues, while serious, for other countries.
I don't believe it's unions. While I think there is room in these hard times for all to "give a little", they are not the only group that should be asked to "give", while others contribute nothing. If you have ever had a look at the cost of building roadways, the inflated material costs would blow your mind, it's b.s. but they get away with it all the time. Engineering studies, while necessary, are a bloated, most often unquestioned cost. It's our tax dollars folks. Our township needed a traffic signal changed at a 5 points intersection, to include a left turn signal, 85,000 for the study. Seriously!!!!!! This is why road projects are constantly pushed from one year to the next, all this costly b.s.

Re: infrastructure jobs bill
i had not realized that the states had "assumed" the costs of highway maintence....
many many formerly federal responsibilties have been pushed to the states in an effort to "shrink" the federal budget in a lets rob peter to pay paul and maybe nobody will notice effort...
this has been an ongoing rightwing initiative that since 1980 and regan has been working for them.....
in the recent wisconson recall some one quarter of Union housholds voted to keep union-busting walker in office.....
Obama was heavily critized in the past by reffering to certon sections of voters who voted on Religion and Guns" issues accros the board...
this section of voters has made the economic castration of the "middleclass" possible and continues to do so....
when states pay for thing the money comes from sales tax and such making the poor more liable for them....
the interstaes are in "better" shape than the other roads arround here, so now i know why....

Re: infrastructure jobs bill
I just wonder if the Union households that voted for Walker really understand what is going to happen to them. It's entirely possible that they were convinced that the adverse effects of union busting would only apply to others, and they would remain untouched.
